Watching the new Frozen 2 trailer and the nøkk shown is either the spirit that caused/forsaw Anna and Elsa’s parent’s death OR is literally one of the parents. Nøkk are Scandinavian water spirits, usually depicted as horses, but they shapeshift into sexy men who are talented musicians. Pregnant women were said to be especially affected by the music of a nøkk. So maybe that’s where Elsa got her magic? Either being the daughter of a nøkk or by hearing the music of one. But more likely the nøkk is just a lingering death omen of all the drowning victims of the storm the parents died in. I’m v excited that they incorporated more norse folklore. This looks so good, y'all.
