Knighteagle and Flambae spending the night together for the first time. Not in like, a particularly sexual way. But they share a bed and sleep at the same time. Sort of, Flambae falls asleep first. Knighteagle knows he’s kind of… dead-looking when he’s asleep, so he keeps himself awake until he knows Flambae’s out cold. Only after watching the man’s breathing steady out and feeling the temperature in the room rise slightly does Knighteagle let himself rest.

And shortly later, Chad is rudely awoken by cold skin pressing against his back. Freezing cold hands wrapping around his torso. It’s been so long since Finlay’s slept nearby someone else that he forgot his tendency to wrap around anything or anyone nearby— especially someone as warm as Chad. Finlay is so cold; his blood is sludge in his system. And now Chad’s cold too, thanks to the freezing fingers skating over his rib cage. And if he doesn’t move to wake Finlay or push the man away… so what… who’s gonna tell? Nobody.

Inspired by this post by @7-inches-of-satanic-panic and tags I left under it… Chase role with Robert being parentified because Robbie can’t father.

Robbie never being around because of work, the only times he’s around he’s just preparing Robert to be the future Mecha man. So Chase has to step in to teach him basic life skills. Like in canon Chase is the one to give Robert his first drink/smoke, and he pretty clearly gives him the worst shit he can (or worst advice for it) so Robert doesn’t like it in hopes he won’t drink or smoke in the future.

Chase teaching Robert how to shave when he starts to grow facial hair. Chase teaches Robert how to actually drive. Not just drive like it would be useful as a superhero, not just piloting a mech, but road rules. How to parallel park and what to do at a four-way stop.

Chase teaching Robert how to tie a tie. Chase taking Robert out somewhere and Robert sees a pretty girl (or boy) and Chase hyped him up to ask them out. Chase preparing Robert for his first ever date. Giving him some money for the movies or something… because let’s be real Robbie is NOT going to encourage his son to have relationships bsffr. Chase being the one Robert comes to when he gets broken up with because he doesn’t want to tell his dad, because Robbie will probably say something about how he just has to move on.

Chase being the one Robert clings to when his ear gets shot. Sure, Robbie is there telling Robert to get up. Sure, Robbie is the one who told the mech to stand down. But Chase is the one who Robert finds comfort in. Chase is the one Robert listens to.

Robbie was his father, Chase raised him. Mecha Man was a superhero, but Trackstar was Robert’s hero.

Thinking about new-to-the-brigade Chase. Thinking about Chase before his team was his friends and when they were more coworkers. Chase (like 17 probably. He was 19 when he started babysitting Robert but it would’ve taken time to build trust with Robbie for that.) clocking in to fight crime with his coworkers in their 30’s and 40’s. They’re all like talking about how hard it is explaining buying superhero gear on taxes and Chase is worried about passing a math exam next week. Chase is writing college applications and Robbie is talking about how he just acquired a son (however the hell he did that. Even crazier in universes where Robert was a Robbie/Elliot collab mixtape. Like hey what do you mean my weird coworker and my workaholic coworker are having a test tube baby.)

They’re like those coworkers who turn to you randomly and tell you a story about the one time they did crack. Or their ex wife who left and took the kids. No wonder Chase was “stuck” babysitting Robert 😭😭 probably better than hearing Robbie talk about combustion engines for the 30 millionth time. At least he gets paid to babysit.

Of course, being around adults constantly and expected to be just as mature as them and as responsible as them has a habit of forcing someone to mature sooner than they probably should. Forcing them into adult roles. Chase was 19 when he was babysitting Robert!!! He was probably younger when he started fighting crime!! And young when he joined the brigade!! That is a teenager!!!
