“i’m sorry..what did you just say?” nadia looked at the boy with a puzzled expression. school wasn’t even close to being over and she still had college to think about. “a baby...right now? we haven’t even been together that long. also i literally work at the bakery that is still alive and well because your aunt and uncle feel sorry for us. also i want to get out of this town when i finally turn eighteen and graduate. how in the hell are we supposed to do that with a child? i don’t want to raise a family in this hellhole where kids are still getting murdered left and right.” she sighed and smiled a little. “not that i wouldn’t want to have a baby with you...this is just not the right time. after graduation we can talk about this again, okay? just a little while longer.”

Furrowing his brows, Ryker shook his head disapprovingly. “He’s very in touch with his feelings, which I could never fault him for, but maybe he needs to go see Alice. Maybe he will feel better having someone to talk to.” Opening his arms to her invitingly, he waved her over. “Its just weird to think that they wouldn’t want to know, but then, kids these days don’t like school so I can’t hold it against them - you weren’t too fond of it either.”

“Sometimes I think Alice does more harm than good...she might make him cry more.” Walking into his arms, Ava smiled and rested her head against his chest. “I loved school at one point, but then I got a boyfriend and he wasn’t in school...I didn’t have much interest anymore...and then I got pregnant and somehow I still managed to finish college.”

They’ll admire him figuring out the clues as long as he doesn’t start crying.” Wiping the paint off his hand, Ryker nodded in agreeance to her suggestion. “But its not a good secret like santa, its a bad secret. They should know so that they don’t make the same mistakes when they are older, but guess you’re right. I’ll suggest it to the first grade teachers and see what they think.”

"I'm afraid that he would end up crying because they'd just rag on him until he figured it out." Smiling, she walked over to him and shook her head. "It is a bad secret but they'll learn about it when they're much older. I know how badly you want them to know the truth, but when they finally get to high school...that's when they'll really know about everything. Just let them enjoy their childhoods."
