Perhaps none of us wants to admit that we live two parallel lives, but we all have many lives, one hidden under the other or flowing right next to it. Some lives are waiting their turn because they haven't been lived at all, while others are waiting to be lived again because they weren't lived long enough.

In short, we don't know how to think about time, because time doesn't really understand time the way we do; because time doesn't care how we think about time; because time is only a shaky, unreliable metaphor for how we think about life. After all, in the end, it's not that time is wrong for us or we are wrong for it. Perhaps life itself is wrong.
