gracerocky getting into a cabin-fever induced feud that lasts for an entire two week period. grace is at serious odds with his loneliness because he got very accustomed to hugs and back scratches and hair ruffles but he stubbornly refuses to think that he was in the wrong. so instead of doing anything productive grace just drapes himself over armando and is loudly like "oh armando..... at least i know YOU would never do me wrong" while caressing his mechanical arm up and down. making kissy mwah mwah noises to ick rocky out. the works. he wakes up later to armando dismantled into a pile and rocky nowhere to be seen

I love how in Daredevil, Frank Castle is like this intimidating guy who's a well matched threat to the hero but in Spiderman he's still the same character but Peter just... does not treat him with the same amount of gravity. He webs Frank's mouth shut for swearing and tells him to go home after breaking his van. He argues with the man who's whole deal is he has a lot of weapons and WILL use them like two New Yorkers who got into a fender bender. Peter Parker and Frank Castle see each other coming and they both go "This fucking guy again." I love it.

Random Au idea; Miraculously, the Blip-A crew survive, but at the cost of their travel time, making it so they arrive at Tau Ceti around the same time as the Hail Mary. (Don't think too hard about it)

Grace now gets regularly hassled by many Eridians, all of whom can hold multiple conversations at once, unlike him.

i hc that taps are a gesture of affection for eridians so when grace first goes into the tunnel and knocks on the clear panel it comes across as absurdly sweet and friendly. it’s the equivalent of rocky saying hello by holding grace’s hand or petting the top of his head

I’d never shown Rocky the cards and drawings that were sent with me before. “Eridian drawing?” I look at the symbol he’s pointing his texture gun at. “What do you mean?”

“Is simple way to draw Eridian. Like simple human next to it.” The simple human in question is a stick figure. And — rotationally symmetric, five equal limbs — yeah, I can see it. The Eridian stick figure equivalent. “Not possible for humans to know we meet,” Rocky says.

“They didn’t,” I say. “On Earth, that’s how we draw a star.”

#project hail mary #ryland grace #rocky the eridian #the idea of that very long elevator ride where Rocky thinks Grace just died makes me sick to my stomach #like he’s going down for the sole purpose of helping everyone figure out a way to help the alien #there’s a crowd of eridians at the base of the elevator waiting for him. just as eager to help their star savior #the star savior that just died without anybody watching him #and nobody knows but Rocky. Rocky who can’t stop screaming and fighting to make the elevator stop or go back up or something. anything #it’s a long way down is all I’m saying #on the humorous side tho. imagine Grace just nervously chilling in his bed waiting to see if the eridians will help him but otherwise fine #maybe catching some Z’s #while completely unaware his best friend is having his worst panic attack in 4 yrs

More notes on this au:

Grocky are long time best friends and basically brothers, with rocky being a few years older (sorry to those hoping for coltland gentry but I haven’t watched those movies yet 😔 so grockydrian found family it is)

Rocky and Adrian are married obviously (I have more sketches focused on them so watch out for those)

Rocky and Simon bicker a lot by virtue being 2 very stubborn idiots, but they do have an appreciation for each other (and simon is eventually welcomed into the family 🥹)
