sclarsystem:
I was feeling like that last year, actually. I had to sit myself down and think about things because I realized that I was also being super hard on myself when it came down to it. I sorted myself out and now I have a new song coming out that I meant to release last year. Things are falling into place slowly. But taking everything in is so important, it can be overwhelming so I think that everyone feels like that at one point or another. What do you think are your proudest achievements since we’re on the interesting topic?
I really understand that on a personal level. We push ourselves so hard we’re in danger of giving ourselves a burnout. My proudest achievements? Well I think outside of acting it would be that I got my greenbelt in Kickboxing when I was filming the last movie. What about you?
hfrtveit:
Well, it deepens on the thing, but I agree. It’s nice to meet you.
Likewise! I’m a big fan of your work.
moxleyfame:
I definitely feel you, there. I think sometimes it’s hard to see how much you’ve done until you’re able to look back on it clearly. When I left WWE, I felt like I’d failed in a way but now looking back, I had a hell of a run there that I need to be proud of. You’ve definitely achieved a ton, headlining a mega franchise this young and becoming wildly successful? That’s some good shit right there.
Absolutely! I think we need to find things in amongst everything going on that we’re proud of and can be happy with. And thanks, I really do think I need to give myself more credit. What are your plans now you’ve left WWE?
queenvh:
She was real! And all that raw emotion! Especially in the last movie! Amazing. I mean Carrie Fisher will always be everyone’s princess in our hearts.
She was one of the best of us, that’s for sure. And she gave me so much advice for when I fist came to set.
sxoirseronan:
Oh, all the time. I feel like in the industry that we work in, there’s always some sort of pressure to do more. Whether it’s brought on by yourself or someone else, there’s always some pressure and it’s easy to spiral down into that hole. Unfortunately, it’s not something that I have figured out how to get rid of or ignore. But those moments when you can step back and really do an introspective look into yourself and everything you’ve done are important because they help bring you back to reality, you know? Pat yourself on the back for a minute. Realize that a lot of it is pretty self-inflicted and none of this needs to be this hard on us.
Wow, thanks for the advice. I’m sitting here thinking if you can be so level headed about all of this then I have a fighting chance! I remember seeing you in Atonement and it just stuck with me. But you’re right; how we feel is very self-inflicted.
dvlcbrien:
Please don’t take this the wrong way when I say…what the fuck? Of course i know that all actors go through this question of ‘have I done enough?’ But you… you’re top notch, Miss Ridley. You’re in one of the best franchises to go down in history. I think that’s a huge accomplishment but I can see where you’re coming from. What has you believing that?
Dylan! Not to sound like Casper but can I keep you! You’re too sweet, I feel like I need you in my bag at all time for moments when I’m feeling uncertain.
barbpalvins:
I certainly need my Grandma’s cooking, as soon as possible. I know, nobody could beat her style of cooking, it always fills me up. You’re right, what do you recommend?
I have lots of cookbooks but I’m Vegan so I don’t know if you’re interested in those?
mrcusrashford:
think s’just human nature to think that we’re always.. underproducing? ‘n i think that’s a side effect of how.. i don’t know, work ethic hungry society is a whole. people’ll prioritize work over their own health, ‘n it’s all so twisted. definitely glad you’re givin’ yourself some grace ‘n not letting them get to you so much. feel like ‘s the same in football as well. y’score a certain milestone of goals, but then you’re already wondering why y’not at the next hundred yet.. ‘s a toxic cycle, for sure. best off avoiding it at all costs.
I know it’s a toxic circle but it’s harder to come out of it than it first seems. Sometimes I have days when I’m so sure of myself and my thoughts and other times I just want to curl up and watch Beauty and the Beast. It goes back and forth.
xxkikistewsxx:
Yeah, i mean, it wasn’t as hugeee as Star Wars was and still is, but it was a time in space that twilight hit a lot of people, and if it helps, you’re liked by the world, you kickass in Star Wars, and you’re right, the thing that helped me the most back then was, having a family inside, the whole cast was like family. And it’s more than okay to be you, you are fucking amazing!
It was still huge; especially for the teenagers so a different audience but in a way it was still a huge phenomenon. But oh my god, you’re so kind; thank you for being such a cheerleader! It means a lot coming from someone who’s really come up through the business as a child and progressed on.
simplymcgrath:
I definitely understand where you’re coming from. But I honestly try not to think about it that much. Most of the time, our mind is our worst enemy, you know, and we shouldn’t give in to our thoughts. You’re a badass, and you’ve achieved so many things, I’m a big fan of yours, seriously.
You’re right; I think we’re our own worst enemy most of the time and I’m learning to be kinder to myself. But thank you, that does mean a lot! I’m a big fan of ours too! I used to watch Merlin all the time.
ncrmanii:
I completely understand how you feel. I get that feeling sometimes too. It’s easy to forget to take a moment to really appreciate how much you’ve done already when we’re always focused pushing forward onto the next. It’s good to take a little time to reflect on the journey. Same, I tend to nitpick when I watch things back on what could have been better or done differently. But at the end of the day, everything I’ve done in the past six or so years is what has given me the opportunity to do more things I want to in the future. I wouldn’t be here doing what I am now without that time and experiences.
Yes, our lives are always so full on; it’s hard to even take a minute for yourself. I feel I’m getting better at that now though. Like I’m able to spend time with people I care about and not worry that I’m not reading a script or something.
phebetonkin:
you’re not alone. i used to feel like that then i realized how much pressure i was putting on myself. it was worse when i was comparing myself to others and how much they had accomplished. while you could look on the past to see how you could improve, i wouldn’t focus on it too much. try not to be too hard on yourself.
I really need to not look at what others are doing at the same time as me otherwise I’m going to go mad I think. Like look at you; I remember watching you on H2O Just add Water and now look at you; doing even more amazing! Sometimes I think I’m lucky I’m not still pulling pints.
ryguzmanhf:
What? Are you kidding me? I mean you did do this little thing called Star Wars and like remade it pretty much for a new generation. You have done a lot and changed a lot and are great. I’ve not done much the most I’ve done is be on 911 and it’s only been like 2 going on 3 years now and that’s nothing.
I’m beginning to think I’m gonna have to hire you as my personal trainer. I feel like I could take on Goliath now! But don’t discredit yourself to make me feel better! You’ve done a lot too and you shouldn’t forget it!
ctrlshawn:
so often. despite everything i’ve done in the past six years, i still think about everything i could be doing by now. i’m my own worst critic and i know it. i look at what other people my age and younger are doing and i just drive myself crazy. you’ve done quite a lot in the past few years, haven’t you? i mean, you were apart of one of the most popular franchises of all time, right? that has to feel good as hell.
Right? It’s like we can never be kind to ourselves because there is always someone out there who seems to have done more or seems more put together. I think it seems to be a curse no one can really shake. I mean, after the first Star Wars was released I remember having to go to therapy to try to normalise myself again. But yeah, now I can kinda look back and say hey, look at that; I was in Star Wars.
brett-tucker:
I think since I moved from Australia to LA, I haven’t really stopped to think about that. I really should though.
Or maybe you shouldn’t. Sometimes I think all it does it cloud your mind and make you sorta doubt everything. I’d stay out of that thinking if I were you!
keithduffy-hf:
I haven’t thought that. But when I get the chance to, I stop and look at things I have achieved. Its still a lot to get my head around.
Yeah sometimes I think we all get so bogged down on the things we haven’t done and not look at the things we have.
