Who is following me now?
I was very active in building my social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, twitter, Tumblr, google+ (when that was a thing), LinkedIn and other platforms for a number of years. My focus was primarily around energy healing, life coaching, motivation, and inspiration. It is interesting to me that since I have pulled back and reduced posts the following has continued to grow. So, I took a look at my analytics out of curiosity and for a class I am taking which required me to write this blog on what I found.
The most interesting things to me were the commonalities and vast differences between platforms. One thing that was common across all platforms was that my highest viewing times are weekdays between 12 and 3pm EST. Across all platforms except Instagram the majority of those who follow me are from the United States and are female. On Instagram, interestingly, the bulk of my followers are from India and 76% are male. Very strange. I am guessing that the posts about spiritual practices may have drawn followers from India, but I do not know.
For what I do I have found that there was no increase or decrease in my work whether I was posting actively or not so I decided to step back for now. At some point in the future as my focus evolves there may be a purpose to becoming more active again. If I do, based on what I have learned from the analytics, I would post between 12 and 3 and I would focus on building more followers in my customer demographic of women in the United States over the age of 50.
