"While You Were Out"
What were the biggest revelations you had while writing While You Were Out? And what do you hope readers take away from the book? Shame kills. Don’t be embarrassed to talk about mental illness. People don’t ask to have depression or anxiety or schizophrenia any more than someone with cancer or diabetes asked for their diseases. Those who suffer from mental illness need our understanding and compassion. They should be heard. Love them. Listen to them. Try to understand them. Help them as best you can. And if that’s not enough to heal them, take heart in knowing that you did all that you could.
