Article goes up today about how Nintendo is wanting their tariff case thrown out.

"Oh, that must mean they don't want to take money that should go to us, right?"

Yeah, Nintendo is SO nice to let us pay $450 for their console before the RAMpocalypse (and now even more soon DUE to the RAMpocalypse)

Decided to upgrade my router to the TP-Link Wifi 7 router being on sale a few weeks ago in a few places (I had a Wifi 6E one and after the "scare" for trying to take a few routers away...)

Waited till I was home alone so that it wasn't a constant "the internet is out!" but finally got it done, router AND extenders! (had to reset the extenders due to unlike devices where you can just use the same name and password, THEY know it's a different router so had to re-set those up)

But hey, at least I got a really decent router now! (was thinking of selling the other, but... might keep it either as another access point or "just in case" as it DID still work)

Honestly considering how the government wanted to take away this brand, yet has been so shitty with our security while wanting to own everything themselves? It makes me actually feel SAFER to be on a TP-Link router and extenders due to them trying to be overbearing over everything.

Another little rant...

I like Pokemon due to the battling, however even though I haven't played it in 2 years (... if I start playing it, I'd just get dragged into it ">.>) I also like Palworld. (was hooked on it for like 2 months when it released in early access originally, I'd have played more but I also like playing other games too!) So seeing both sides go at each other?

I wish Pokemon fans would stop acting like their game is superior, even after what happened with Scarlet and Violet (that game was HARD to play until the Switch 2 fixed the frame rate issues) as well as act like it is filled with the best idea monsters, when besides the "easy" target of "a Pokeball" monster, or "an ice cream cone" Pokemon, we even have gone as far as this past gen having a literal flamingo Pokemon, that is just called Flamigo. (which makes it feel like "if anyone else makes a flamingo monster in a monster tamer game? Get ready for the pitchforks!")

Meanwhile I also wish Palworld fans would stop trying to rub it in Pokemon fans faces that their game has gotten so popular, not just once back in 2024, but AGAIN right now. It's good to celebrate, but then to try and compare and act like YOUR game is superior? Learn to be humble, celebrate the milestone without trying to bring down another person's favorite game. If you really want Pokemon to do better, let the Pokemon fans that aren't so much up into Nintendo/Pokemon's stuff join by being humble. (I say this line because there are people that won't join, just due to their opinion on Palworld... which just let them be, you can't talk them into it, similar to how you can't talk me into owning another Sony console at this point, it's pointless)

... plus I would like to add, everyone fighting about "whose game is the best" reminds me of damn elementary school from the late 90's. "Pokemon is better!" "No! Digimon is better!" Like holy shit guys, just enjoy the game you enjoy!

Me continuing to see write ups "defend" Sony's move to digital only pisses me off.

"BUT THE CHARTS SAY DIGITAL IS MORE POPULAR!"

Besides them swaying the charts in their favor for digital, by including DLC, digital only games (some indies can't afford to go physical!) and even FREE TO PLAY GAMES?

These charts I bet only include NEW games. Second hand game selling is something that can not be easily accounted for, because besides places like Gamestop that sell used games, you have things like ebay, second hand markets (retro game stores?), or even GARAGE SALES that will NOT add in to that total.

So this is why when I see gaming journalists and gaming news websites try to "defend" Sony's decision? I just look at them just accepting Sony's reasoning like they will listen to whatever Sony or any big corporation says, considering big corp does NOT want used games to exist, considering that is money that they already took, and can't get more from, since it doesn't come from them.

On another random note.

I got pizza tonight, the cashier put in the exact total ($11.76) when I gave a $20. They had to run to grab the current manager.

... the manager could not do the math either.

Me: It's $8.24

Manager: "Excuse me?"

Me: *slides mask off real quick* (it was loud inside, even though it was just the workers and me) "It's $8.24."

Manager: ... I'm so sorry, I just can't math that well, the machine usually tells the amount with change too so.

Me: "It's fine, no biggie." *being given $8.25 due to the whole penny thing*

After leaving to myself: *laughs* (... while also facepalming in my head cause it feels like most people can't do that quick of math, as it was easy for me, just pretend it was $11.75, add $8 and then $0.25 to get to $20 and take away the "added" penny)

Edit: Actually I would like to add to this. This is not the first time people younger than me have tried to do the math in their head. However they try to do it themselves. Once inside an establishment. (... they gave me back an extra dollar or two and I'm like "... wut") and then once in a drive-thru (... I gave a $20 like this time... but they gave me back the money I owed. Exactly. Bills AND change.)

So this is not a first encounter, and it is why I facepalm at everyone relying on machines. (... when this almost turned into a different post at the end, but I think you catch my drift)

This all also has happened in a matter of like, 2 months btw too.

Me just now seeing the Freddy Fazbear animatronic that's gonna be sold at Spirit of Halloween

"... oh jeez, that thing is gonna be sold out SO fast due to how many FNAF fans there are..."

It surprises me how long it took them to make it a thing considering how popular FNAF is. (I mean the franchise is 12 this year, and it took THIS long for something like this to exist as a Halloween decoration? lol)

I honestly can see this be a yearly thing if it sells fast (which even at $499, it definitely should) where they will introduce a new animatronic each year, ending it off with the "fan favorite" of course.

I'll contribute if anyone DOES happen to want it, that if you go to Spirit of Halloween, make sure to put yourself as a reserve if you want the stage that has it on display if you want it. They say they will call back, but I'd just go the day after Halloween cause I tried getting some of their Halloween looking candles in the past and they never called back after putting myself down for reservation with my phone number, but if you go the day after Halloween AND show that you put in the reservation for the stage as an "after Halloween sale" to get rid of stock? (I heard only SOME stores will get rid of those types of items... as don't forget the people working there could be interested in it too AND buy it for themselves after, since the store only opens at that time of year, so the worker is only temporary... making it where they probably have even MORE free reign than the customer if they happen to be interested!)

Either way, I'm still surprised it took them this long to make a lifesized FNAF animatronic for Halloween.

I swear, I sometimes REALLY hate my luck spectrum being either incredibly good or horrifically bad.

My car is at 78,000 miles, sure it is 11 this year, but when the a person comments “wow, that’s low mileage!” and the engine has had 2 issues in the past year?

That just makes me suspect that the car makers really do just make the vehicles these days just last until a specific time, so you can go back and get a new car a decade later, because 78k miles IS low… considering oil changing places do not replace oil with a “special” oil after a vehicle gets to 70k or 75k and my car JUST hot over that.

Me seeing a developer have to deal with people enjoying their game… but because it’s less than the time required before you can’t refund it anymore, the dev has to deal with people “speedrunning and beating” the game and get their money back while leaving a positive review about them beating the game and getting their money back…

Meanwhile some people actually defending this bullshit…

How about go to the cinema and let me know how much it costs to see a single movie. Also let me know about getting a refund whether enjoying it or not, especially since a lot of movies fit the same “time limit” as being able to get a refund from Steam.

The greed is so real these days, willing to hurt an indie dev’s profits (the game being the paddling game that took off over the past year I believe as it was $4.99 but on sale currently $2.99) rather than consider the game bought and letting them have their payment, or even consider the $5 as a tip for good fun.

Something I paid extra into was Rivals of Aether 2. I was one of the bigger backers that paid over $100, just to get a PHYSICAL copy of Rivals 2.

It may not be the updated version that is out now, however if something DOES happen to the current game where they can’t release the current/final version they ever make?

At least I have a copy of the game, to have the game in hand. (I honestly hope whenever they DO have a final version, if it could be put into this USB drive to have as a backup lol)

Also, the Rivals team was nice enough, my original version that was shipped arrived broken, so they sent another copy. (so I formatted the original and now I have two thumbdrives with the original 1.0 version before release)

I'll make the joke about Sony first, then go a little more in depth.

Sony got so full of themselves, with the whole live service schtick, that because they think Marathon is ok, so much so that they are trying to ignore Destiny 2's major population spike that occurred when the final update went out. (hell, Steam-wise D2 is still pulling 92k people in the past 24 hours versus Marathon's 8.1k people) Yet continue to ignore the outcry.

Now? Sony continues to ignore not just the community, but pretty much well over half the gaming population, AND more, considering they have gone radio silent for the most part, with how much backlash has been hitting them. So much so that even COMPANIES are cracking jokes at them (some while being not the best companies, they KNOW what Sony is doing is bullshit and sets a precedence up for the gaming population), politicians are questioning their decision if what they are doing is legal (Brazil even going so far as to have a lawmaker question Sony's antics), and several consumers going so far as to cancel their subscriptions and say they'd drop Sony if this goes through.

... I honestly hope the pushback continues, just because Sony absolutely deserves it. They've become so arrogant with decision after decision (IMO, since even before the PS5, but the PS5 has made them think they can do whatever the hell they want) that now, making a similar decision that Microsoft did over a decade ago, which ruined the company's reputation with the Xbox brand I honestly want to say. Xbox 360 was Microsoft's prime time, their Xbox One "always online" and "games being assigned to a single console" with them doubling down and saying "just get a 360" was the absolute worst decision they made in their career, so much so that even when they walked it back? Look at how Xbox has fared since.

Sony has now gotten to that point, and so far has continued to double down, the same thing happening then happening now. I left Microsoft's consoles for good back then. I left Sony's console side right before the PS4 Pro's launch since it felt like Sony was starting to act unfriendly with consumers, with the PS5 having a "choice" between physical and digital only console. (requiring the add-on to play physical, which made me feel like Sony was wanting to switch their stance)

So while I don't really don't need to take a stance on this fight with Sony, I feel like their decision WILL affect me if the pushback fails. (Considering games went up in price around the time the PS5 was released, it just feels like Sony contributed to the new baseline for AAA games costing $70, something that I felt people just "accepted" while I got games at $60 or less still, via sale price or deal price, even on release, I think I only folded on Legends ZA Switch 2 edition just due to the fact it had been 5 years later, and obviously "boycotting" didn't work)

Hopefully this time people actually follow through, and give Sony just as much shit as Microsoft got over a decade ago, because if this fails? Expect game companies to lock down even more as a result. I mean after all, Rockstar has already shown they aren't making a physical version of GTA VI, something they announced ahead of Sony's announcement. Yet people didn't care then and still preordered. (another game series I never really played, honestly only played GTA III once, and it was through a relative's copy... back in like 2002 lmfao, I never even rented it so, again it doesn't affect me lol)

However people deciding to just preorder anyway, before the Sony announcement? That starts a precedence of games being shipped with DRM (whether console OR PC), something Sony realized and tried to take advantage of. Something that confused me, what makes GTA VI different being digital only, versus Sony outright saying they are switching to digital only. While Sony affects more, GTA VI preorders still went absolutely insane anyways. Some complained about Rockstar's decision, but it wasn't until Sony made their announcement that people started to actually hit back hard. It just doesn't make sense to me, and feels very hypocritical considering they both literally made their announcements within the same week. (hell, I didn't buy Pokopia due to it being a Game Key Card, and still refuse to buy it due to that reason, yet it still did very well in the end, making it look like Game Key Cards aren't the problem, and now with the digital push, it makes me question buying ANYTHING digital on console again too)

I swear, besides PC games, I might be leaving the gaming community otherwise with how shit it has become, only really supporting indies. Especially since now it really feels like Nintendo, out of all companies, still produces SOME physical games. (but if they go all digital next gen, or even this gen, it'll probably be my last console since every console maker would want to have their console completely closed off and user-unfriendly)

Me seeing people surprised that Sony is doubling down for the time being...

I'm not that surprised. Why?

They announced this July 1st. The new fiscal year started July 1st. (I noticed this, but I'm surprised no one else did, otherwise I'd have commented on it sooner) They announced every shitty thing they can, just to "rip the band aid off" at the beginning, so that people will complain at the beginning, then grow accustomed to it by September 30th, when the end of the quarter of the fiscal year hits. (and then numbers climb back up to make investors "happy" which are happy this was announced btw, as their stock actually went UP 3% on announcement day from what I heard)

If you truly don't want to support Sony, stay away from them until after September 30th would be my recommendation.

My last Sony purchase was Spiderman on PC... on sale, like 2 years ago. (which I still haven't played so-) Not interested in getting the second game, or really anything from Sony if this is the case for their future. (I have no idea if Palworld even counts, as Palworld is still OWNED by Pocketpair, but anything like physical merch that gets released or shows from what I hear would be made by Sony from the deal they made with them, again from what I hear, just to keep in mind)
