Although his description is vague she cannot help but to wince. Often subjected to bouts of clumsiness, Doyeon is able to comprehend how easy it is to walk into objects – for this reason alone she chooses not to question it any further. However, unlike him, she struggles to contain her pain. Maybe it’s the age or the difference in their pain threshold – that or he was just better at hiding it. In reality, it matters not.
“You should get something cold on it, like an ice pack.” Concern rings clear with each syllable. Her eyes linger on the shoulder and subconsciously her own hand raises to rub her own. How painful it must be! Standing around won’t do any good, it’s a dawning realisation that had taken far too long to settle; finally her gears get moving and Doyeon is ready to be of help. “I wonder if there is anything frozen around here, let me go and check for you– Ah, just give me a second.”
Doyeon scampers off in search of something to subdue potential swelling. Then again, how many frozen things can you really find in a radio station?
Jax shrugs, holding back any signs of pain coming from him because obviously it hurts just to shrug. He can imagine how his close friends will react to his explanation of why his shoulder is red and most probably swelling. It’s lucky he’s a radio host, not an idol, or another public figure that needs to be seen all the time. If hundreds of cameras were snapping at him every second of the day, his shoulder would be a subject of much unrest--and he is not about to make that a reality.
But, the young man is taken aback by the girl’s sudden act of kindness, the act of running off to find something cold for him to put on his pained shoulder. He calls out after her, not sure if she can hear him, “Hey, you don’t have to--” but,to remedy this situation, he hurries behind.
Knowing this place like the back of his hand, he can easily say she’s going to get lost looking for something frozen. “Doyeon,” he calls out again. “There’s a freezer in the break room. Let’s go there.” Jax feels really bad, but what can he do now?
