Do-re-mi… and just like the melody, Raime was born twice as beautiful and equally as well known as her namesake. The daughter of one of Hollywood’s most influential names in filmmaking, Richard Harp, and a former ( now irrelevant) Miss California, Raime had a silver spoon in her mouth before she could even talk. Dressed in designer shoes with a rotating array of nannies, butlers, drivers, and chefs, Raime was a blessed tot from the time she could stand on her own two feet. Given everything from the start, she theoretically had every advantage a person could have, but all that she was given masked all that she lacked growing up. There was a reason her father was the one to raise her, and in turn, won sole custody of her instead of her mother. The bargaining chip in her parent’s fragmented and short lived relationship, soon after Raime was born, the two separated, with her mother jet setting off into the wind only to show up on Raime’s intermittent birthdays trying to take her back. Her father was always the stable one, the one who always finished what he started, the one who tried his best to raise his daughter right but often fell victim to her bright eyes and dimpled smile. And her mother? Well her mother wanted entirely nothing to do with her. A woman who was more self absorbed and flighty than the woman her daughter would eventually become, Raime’s mother Paola was a scheming and selfish ex pageant queen who wanted nothing more than her fifteen minutes of fame. Raime was simply a way to ensure she always had some form of leverage or means of extortion over Raime’s father…until she didn’t. When Richard won sole custody of Raime when Raime was five years old, Paola was supposed to disappear into the wind. But on every birthday, there was always one woman who seemed to show up at the most inopportune of times.
Despite her parent’s post marital disputes and her mother’s questionable means of trying to contact her, for the most part, the rest of Raime’s adolescence came easily. Raime was sheltered from the wars that raged outside of the Harp’s impenetrable estate, and homeschooled until she turned sixteen and began a career of her own in the entertainment industry. Unlike her father and older brother Orion, Raime wanted nothing to do with production or the family filmmaking business. She wasn’t her father’s son– she had no name to live up to… and both filmmaking and production seemed like such dry areas of expertise. The stars seemed to align perfectly when she was discovered lounging on the beach in Malibu by a scout from Wilhelmina models. With an impossibly tiny waist to hip ratio, California sunkissed tan, and messy surfer curls, Raime was the idyllic California girl before the It-girls of California strived to be the very epitome of one. With a carefree and uninhibited personality, wherever she went, she was the center of attention and she loved it– whether it was in front of the camera or a gaggle of infatuated surfers who set up camp by her blanket at the beach. Modeling was a perfect profession, made for people like Raime, for the very sorts of people that others strived to be: beautiful, effortless, enthralling.
And then came the fateful photoshoot that launched her face onto every blog, every website, every Instagram page imaginable. It was the shoot of Raime in a white bikini, lounging on a beach chair on the porch at her beach house in Malibu with a flower in her hair. Though already signed to a modeling agency, the photos taken from the shoot were from a little known photographer– Raime’s boyfriend at the time, who was also a model as well. Reese. Followers began to pour in as more and more people began to search for the model in the white bikini, who somehow found her way onto their Instagram and Tumblr feeds. Soon after, brands and companies were contacting her trying to get her to plug their products or wear their clothes. Raime wasn’t interested. After moving out of her father’s estate, she and Reese both left their agencies (Wilhelmina and IMG respectively) to travel the world together. Raime was only nineteen at the time, and Reese was twenty three. They were beautiful young people with more money than anyone would ever need or even see in their lifetimes, with the entire world ahead of them. And they traveled– oh did they travel. From London to Morocco to Dubai to Madrid to Myokonos, wherever they went, Reese and Raime documented every moment of their travels… and their followings increased rapidly but surely. They began as two kids in love, and quickly built a name for themselves as the most envy worthy couple on Instagram. Raime often served as the face to their adventures, and they traveled either alone together or with an additional photographer aside from Reese. Displaying beautiful moments of intimacy and shocking clips from their adventures, they were the couple that launched a thousand hashtags from #goals to #envyworthycouple, everyone wanted to either be them or see more of their lives.
But eventually it became too much– too much pressure and monetization of their relationship. It became something Raime no longer felt like she had any part of. Eventually they had people managing their accounts, telling them what poses they should be doing in their own photoshoots, telling them how they should look and where to travel next. It no longer became fun. And Reese? Well he was Raime’s first love… but she always knew he wouldn’t be her last. Self sabotaging potentially the only relationship of meaning she’s ever had in her life aside from familial relationships, Raime and Reese were together for four years before Raime cheated on him. She knew he deserved better, so she sabotaged the relationship for his own good (or at least, that’s the way she sees it). Despite ending on a poor note, she and Reese had enough respect for one another that news of her infidelity stayed carefully tucked away under wraps. The breakup was easy… but it was the social media backlash that was hard. Both Raime and Reese had amassed over five million followers each, each one of whom were personally invested in the fantasy that was their relationship. Nobody was happy to see them end. Not even Reese.
It’s been three months since the breakup and the wound is still fresh. It stings when she hears his name, and it hurts even more to scroll through the thousands of pictures she was once a part of… but she knows it’s for the best. Her life is now her own, no longer chained to Reese’s or monetized by her managers for fiscal gain. After firing her handlers, stylists, managers, and agent, Raime is finally living life on her own terms… and my, has it been wonderful. But like Halley’s comet, girls like Raime only come around once in a lifetime. And when you’re glowing from the warmth of her sunshine, you are burning up at the same time. Only time will tell if she can continue to grab the spotlight, or if she’ll fade into the background like the has been’s and wannabe’s.
+ spontaneous, silly, high energy
- immature, flighty, selfish
Daddy’s Princess and the girl who always gets what she wants when she wants it, Raime has never been told no in her lifetime. This has lead her to become extremely self absorbed, entitled, and only concerned with her own needs and desires. She is flighty and irresponsible. She hates being trapped in any one place or forced to repeat the same thing over and over again. Selfish and emotionally immature, she can’t understand why her own relationships suffer or seem to fail despite putting herself first and paying little regard to those around her. She hurts people and they let her– but they also leave her. Raime cannot wrap her mind around this concept, and is often privy to a rotating circle of friends. People don’t seem to stay in her inner circle for long… and either she has a way of pushing them away or plain old stabbing them in the back. Of course, she never really has ill-intentions, but life just has a way of happening. So what if she slept with her best friend’s boyfriend? He was something she wanted. So what if she took the modeling job her friend was supposed to be in talks for? She wanted it. So what if she hurt you? It doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about you. That being said, her magnetism is undeniable. She’s that friend who is always down to have a good time, who would funnel champagne down your throat when you’re sad if she could. She’s never really sad for long because nothing in life has ever really hurt her. She’s hollow, completely empty, but also one of the best and worst things to ever happen to you. She is sin embodied. She lives for the show.
