Current Obsession: The Lost Boys

Desperate to talk about these useless vampires

Something that we have not talked about enough is how absolutely INSANELY interesting of choice it is to give Michael the driving character traits of "I want to lose myself" and "I want to belong to someone". Those are NOT common protagonist traits, especially not in musicals, and while "I want to lose myself" is a little more in line with other angsty teen characters, combining that with "I want to belong to someone" (not "i want to be with someone", "I want someone to love me", etc.) is WILD.

I would really like someone to do a deep dive into what this means for his character because like I can tell this is unique and interesting but I also am like an inch short of *really* getting it and understanding fully.

David believing he is saving Star and pouring his love and care into her but all she can see is him as a monster trying to force her into becoming one as well.

So no joke I was doing this time loop idea but then was interrupted by a MIGHTY NEED to do Deaf!Michael.

Except in mine Michael doesn’t know that David is looping too. He thinks he’s NPCing like everyone else. Meanwhile David thinks he is in literal hell for all the terrible things he’s done that he has to relive falling in love with Michael just to have him kill him over and over and over again.

They only break the loop when they fall in love and get an everyone but Max lives ending

The Lost Boys Musical AU where Michael is deaf and when he meets the boys he explains how he can feel the vibrations of their music and he really loves their songs.

David knows sign language because he picked up on it when he was a soldier. He gets some new lessons for more modern signing/vocabulary, and hires an ASL interpreter for their shows. David still likes to sign himself during his performance because he wants to "sing" directly to Michael.

When they start dating, he ends every show with the "I love you" sign pointed right at Michael. The audience assumes he's doing it to say he loves his fans (or they mistake it for the "rock on" sign), but Michael knows it's just for him 🤟

i think when star 1st turned it was honestly.fun. she was having fun. she could see things she couldnt see before.she could touch the clouds if she desired. she finally wasnt tired all the time and had a comfortable place to sleep. the lost boys made her feel so welcome. scene where theyre practicing and star is just watching at 1st until david grabs her and she sings along with him and theyre standing too close. paul jokes that they should just kiss already and for once star felt like she had an actual family.then the hunger started
