Hold on hold on hold on, I need to know the context behind that awesome blood mage spell blade Mercar post 👀🙏🏼 pls

Salvador is my answer to my extreme dissapointment of vielguard and disregard of tevinter lore. he's a mercar rook but his grandfather was one of the elite of the venatori ( one of the many heads of the hydra in fact in inquistion i am pretty sure that there is a letter in the desert of the hissing wastes somewhere of a venatori elite by the name mercar but i cant remeber exactly where nor can i find it again ). he was raised by his father who had renounced it, away from tevinter in orlais, but after his father died in ostagar and he showed signs of magic, he was moved out back to tevinter to be his grandfather's heir, where he was blood brainwashed into the perfect little venatori ( a-la dorian's dad to him at one point ), its a sad backstory and i wont go fully into detail but it made me think about the old gods and the black devine etc . there is a large populace who are believers of andraste in tevinter, but i am sure there is still those who believe in the old gods and pick certain dragons and commit to their verses perhaps they are above board people who have their own church while half are venatori but no one can tell who or what, nor do they care because most of the elite are magisters. Sal is Dumati, following Dumat.

then i had ideas further to the idea of sacrafice and that one mission in inquisition and the use of wyvern heart. dragons are back, and they were prevelant in magic spells , perhaps those who were higher priests didnt just use people, perhaps huge consentrated spells required the blood magic of sacraficing dragons themselves. sal has a huge issue of his past, he fully believes in veilguard that he wanted to be heir, and the many magic spells he designed and the people he sacraficed were by choice, so he fully commits and swears his life to the shadows in order to pay that back as reperation, but the full extent is that he wishes to die a martyrs death in order to actually repay it. his last fight with elgarnan he does alone, gets pretty much murked by the god because he's one fucking guy , but then does 'transfusion' where he practially takes the corpse of lusacan, and drains his blood to flow through his veins ( knowing its blighted ) and does one last horah to beat the bastard. boy took one of his gods and used his blood to go super saiyan.... basically

i keep seeing the compliment , either in my tags or comments , that my art style is 'satisfying' and i dunno what it is about it , or in particular that is satisfying for people , but i'm happy to provide ....

everytime i look at my art and i feel bad about it , i remember something an older art teacher told me about when they were fantastic at using coloured pencils but couldnt use oil pastels -----

every medium is different , and requires a different skillset . pencil is not the same as pen , pastels are not the same as paint . though we can bend them to act like the other , they are completely new skills and understanding . and mediums are always getting invented .

if i see a 19 y/o and i get style or rendering envy , i remember - they grew up with digital art . meanwhile i was a realism and still life oil painter when i was their age . i only moved digital when i was 22 , ive only been at it for just over 5 years . and i moved to a completely new subject and focus too . that teacher grew up with coloured pencils and used them for decades to get to where they were , oil pastles werent easy to get ahold of till they were much older and thus she didnt have the skill-set developed as much . i'm older , and i've always been real poor , i pads werent what they are now when i was young . yes there were options but i got my first laptop at 17 . ive still to learn the skill set and its gonna take me a little longer . but man ... i'm making progress .

a year in review - i've been on and off , just drawing for pleasure this year , my ocs and fav characters not caring about notes as life was too hard this year . i have a few months where i havent had the ability to even draw a single thing because i was either working on commissions or i was having real bad mental health , but i filled more than i thought i would . its been a rough year , so my resolution is to actually draw something for myself every month next year , fill the gaps even if its just one peice a month while i work on my mental and physical health .

and as you deserve , a huge thank you to every commissioner and client this past year , you really made a difference in one of the hardest years of my life ! heres to you ~
