one of my new favorite performers, latvian gidon kremer doing his remarkable rendition of astor piazzolla's le grand tango.

bela bartok - string quartet no 5 (v), in b flat.  i cant comprehend how someone could come up with stuff like this.  may take those not used to bartok a few listens to fully appreciate. there are segments in this piece that make me just laugh.

dmitri shostakovich - string quartet no. 8, allegro molto.  my favorite shostakovich song.  intense.

dmitri shostakovich - elegia, adagio.  coming from russia with this peaceful piece.  reminds me a little of tangerine dream - birth of liquid plejades, which i posted earlier.

art zoyd - la ville from the album generation sans futur.  rock in opposition coming from france 1980.

volapuk - les enfants de la guerre, from the album slang coming from france in 1997.  great album with some skillful cello, drum, clarinet interplay.  definitely worth a listen.

cro magnon - habemus pampam.  another belgian neo-classical band.  from the album bull! 1992.  i love the segment from around 4:20 - 5:50, some beautiful cello work.

die anarchistische abendunterhaltung (daau) - wish you were hit.  from the album domestic wildlife.  another catchy song from this belgian group.

die anarchistische abendunterhaltung (DAAU) - tropic of cancer.  from the 2005 album domestic wildlife.  another neoclassical album coming from belgium.

aranis - zilezi, from the self titled 2005 album coming from belgium.  a peaceful little neoclassical track.

another great after crying song from the album megalazottak es megszomoritottak, coming from hungary in '92.  i love the cello work on this track.

kolinda - szerelem.  from the album kolinda ii, 1977.  more amazing progressive folk coming from hungary.  this is one of my all-time favorite songs.  the middle segment from 4:15 - 8:15 is perfection.  i especially love the heavy violin section at 6:40.  a band definitely worth checking out.

kolinda - jatekos ii.  from the album 1514.  some great progressive folk coming from hungary late 70s.  i love the backing rhythm created by the muted accoustic and percussions in this one although its not the clearest version of the song.

mogollar - garip coban.  nice little song coming from turkey.

another from alim qasimov - ey encanlar from the album love's deep ocean.  my favorite song of his.  this guy does things with his voice that just aren't human.  listen from 10:20-10:50 for a great sample of alim going nuts on the mic.  makes me laugh out of amazement every time, guys got balls.

the incredible alim qasimov and his daughter ferghana coming from azerbaijan.  here performing his song getme, getme with kronos quartet on strings.  a performance i had the pleasure of seeing in person at carnegie hall.  no one does vocals quite like alim.
