Before she got a chance to walk off, she heard someone calling and approaching her. Geez, it was probably wishful thinking to hope no one would see that crash, but at least it was a concerned grown-up and not one of her friends or classmates.
“Yeah, thanks mister, but I’ll be fine.” So she said, but trying to walk with her scratched and scraped legs really stung. Katie looked at the man as he walked along with her. He looked like he could be a doctor or a scientist. He had a big coat like one. “My house isn’t that far off, I just need to get-” She stopped in her tracks when she looked down and saw something on the man’s wrist. The watch he wore, it wasn’t any ordinary watch. The 4-coloured face in a slight swirl formation, the bubble-like lens, the small light, and the slot where medals would go…
He was wearing a Yo-kai Watch.
She let go of the bike, letting it clatter onto the sidewalk. She bent forward as if to examine the man’s watch closer, but there was no doubt in her mind.
“Mister, where did you get that watch?” She spoke with newfound enthusiasm. Her own watch dangled from around her neck as she leaned forward.
The girl’s bike suddenly hit the sidewalk with a clang. He would have gone to reach for it, except that the young woman was now leaning slightly in the way, seeming to study his hand. His head jerked to follow her gaze until it landed on...
“Oh!” He stammered sheepishly, pressing his fingers gently on the domed face-- to protect it from the sharpness of the young lady’s gaze. “Th-- This watch? Yes! Well... it’s--”
As he fumbled for an explanation, the timing could not have been better; just as he faded off, he noticed something dangling from the young lady’s neck -- a small locket, decorated strikingly similar to the watch face on his wrist.
“... It... was a gift.” He looked back up at the young lady’s face, and then back down at the locket around her neck. “From a friend of mine... Pardon me, may I ask the same of... your necklace?”
