I think Billy Hargrove is gay, has internalized homophobia and was caught with a black guy back in California.

It would explain his misogyny. He has a strange hatred for women, possibly his biologically mother (for leaving him?) and stepmother (I think she was the one to find Billy with a guy). The whore and cow comments are self explanatory.

He got very upset in the car with Max when she blamed him for them having to move.

“She’s not my type.” Hmm… you can be the judge for that one.

Plus, his father called him a f*ggot and that doesn’t come from nowhere.

He also was targeting Lucas specifically. Interracial romance in 80s was severely taboo and he aggressively told Max to stay away from Lucas. It may be because he was protecting her in a weird way or because he got caught with a black guy and there was consequences. Both, I assume.

He definitely likes Steve. The shower scene, basketball practices, and almost killing him during that fight was more than enough prove.

The fight scene, in my opinion, symbolized him lashing out his suppressed gay feelings for Steve. How many times has a closeted bully taken out his angry on the object of their affections? I’ll wait.

Billy could be gay, but i don’t think that equals to him liking steve.

Billy definitely has problems that run severely deep. regardless if he is this way for what happened back in california. it doesn’t give him an exucse for acting so shitty towards Max who is just trying to have a normal life and make friends in a new town.

IT DOES NOT GIVE HIM AN EXCUSE FOR NEARLY KILLING STEVE.

it does not give him an excuse for attacking a child.

of course it can be looked at in a way that is him trying to get these feelings for other guys away, but he still nearly killed someone, in front of children.

@arthoebyers I’m not making excuses, just observations. Closeted people attack/bully their crushes all the time. He’s a sack of pure shit, no matter what way anyone puts it.

And I do believe he likes Steve, why do you think people think he’s gay? It’s because of his interactions with Steve. There would no gay subtext without Steve so yeah.

@tvler-posey someone can still be racist/prejudice and date/sexualize people of color. And I never said he wasn’t a psycho because he is.

These are just theories. I’m not defending him, just observing what I think about Billy’s character. In my opinion, he’s unredeemable from the moment he abused Max and attacked Lucas.

^Not every single LGBT+ person is exactly the same. There are plenty of non-abusive closeted people, yes, I agree. But there are also closeted people (and even non-closeted) that cannot deal with their emotions and therefore take it out on everyone else. It is far from unheard of. To quote you directly, "Gay people are not a different breed."

And before I get mauled to death, no, OP's theory does in no way shape or form excuse his actions. There's a difference between saying "I see why someone behaves this way" and "I see why someone behaves this way, so it totally absolves them of all wrong-doing."

Is he even real

Tiny dirty stray kitten hanging out at the bottom of our stairs since yesterday. There are a lot of self-reliant ferals around our apartment, but this little thing was dirty & covered in burrs. We gave it some chicken but couldn’t catch it. I think it may have wandered over from the outdoor cat hoarder colony down the street; that house is awful & we saw kittens there last week.

This morning the downstairs neighbor managed to grab it for us, and I put it on this cozy towel & started combing and picking the burrs & sticks out of its fur. It calmed down immediately and has been chilling here with me in the kitchen ever since. Got a vet appointment in an hour to get my little buddy cleaned up & checked out. I hope it isn’t too sick; I think it might have a cold.

If we can, we are probably going to keep her.

What a difference a day makes! Took this little guy to the vet, got the fleas and dirt washed off him, got some antibiotics for a slight cold, but he is otherwise fine. Kneading and purring up a storm, eating a lot and being heart-crushingly adorable.

This is important guys. If your rabbit gets into something gnarly and you HAVE to bathe them: 1. Fill a bowl with warm water. 2. Get a washcloth. Put it in the water. Squeeze it out until it is just damn. 3. Lightly scrub the dirty area on your bun. 4. That is it. DO NOT get your bun wet. Only slightly damp on the part that was dirty. (source)
