Border Patrol agent questions Slidell driver, teen passenger’s citizenship
Right before every election, I try to get people to go vote for legislation that mitigates the damage America is doing and brainless dumbasses in my replies are like “I refuse to participate in this evil system, the only solution is revolution.” and another year passes and more Killing People and Locking Them Up legislation comes into effect and there is also still no revolution. Not the fault of these online leftists but infuriating anyway. We need to abolish America and until we do, America will continue to work as an evil explorative force globally and you will continue to live here. The least you can do is try to go out and vote against sending unlimited money to Israel and stripping healthcare from the 340 million people who live here. If voting did nothing at all, the GOP wouldn’t be trying so desperately to meddle in elections and discourage people from voting. You live in a society. It might not be the one you want but you live in it. Call me a stupid lib or whatever but you’re doing fuck all to help anybody and being so smug about it.
It is one thing to not be able to vote and another thing entirely to brag about not voting when you could. That is not something to pat yourself on the back for.
"If you don't believe that illegals are voting, you'd have no problem with ICE at voting locations."
There's no magical force that compels ICE to leave citizens alone. They've literally been kidnapping people without due process, and their supporters have literally been saying that they're okay with that. They've also murdered people while knowing they're on camera with zero fear whatsoever. ICE are a terrorist organization with a free pass to do whatever they want.
If ICE are at voting locations, those who believe that ICE are dangerous monsters will be afraid to go, while those who bootlick ICE will be more likely to go. This will skew the voters in favor of ICE.
"old people are usually bigoted" isn't necessarily true, I know some old people who aren’t, but I think a lot of folks forget that *most poor and working class people die younger* and if someone is 70+ there is a higher chance that they're independantly wealthy and, you know, since we live in *this motherfucking system* there's a higher chance that they're white, cis, straight and very comfortable in their privileges. "old people are usually bigoted" is not true but "the people with the most privilege usually live longer" is.
*through gritted teeth* no one has ever loathed themself into getting better, you have to love yourself a little to change

A teenager cannot get reconstructive surgery. But a parent can circumcise a baby.
A teenager cannot get body modifications. But a parent can pierce a baby's ears.
A teenager (or even a 20 year old) cannot buy cigarettes. But a parent can smoke in places where their toddler is forced to be.
What a teenager chooses is met with stricter scrutiny than what's forced on a very young child.
before trump and the creation of ANTIFA as a boogeyman, the fbi listed animal liberation and 'eco-terrorism' as the number 1 domestic terror threat.
Saw this on FB and tried to find the original, which I haven't, but the point is so solid.
Yennefer’s voice made Jaskier think of a frozen lake in deep winter, cold and smooth and unyielding. “One of the first things they taught us was seeing people's deepest fears. Do you know what I see in you, bard?
Jaskier refused to meet her gaze.
“Fear of dying alone, abandoned and unloved.” She leaned in, whispering in his ear as he shuddered. “Insignificant, unrecognised.”
“Stop,” Jaskier whispered.
She continued, implacable. “Unwanted, forgotten—”
"Stop!" Jaskier's voice cracked around the word, and Yennefer's litany ended.
She pressed a sharp-nailed finger to his jaw, turning his head with implacable strength, forcing him to meet her gaze. "I see you, bard. When you die, I might even shed a tear."
Jaskier opened his mouth to speak but she shook her head. "But Geralt. Our poor, deluded Witcher. When you stumble off the mortal plane...”
“He won’t even know. He’s glad I’m out of his life. He doesn’t think about me.”
She scoffed at him. “You don’t believe that.” Jaskier looked away again. “You do,” she said, taken aback, violet eyes wide. “Goddess bless, you really do.”
i wrote a twin cinema poem about two gay soldiers in wwi
context: the two sides, read separately, are the two soldiers thinking about their futures with each other. when read together, it's a reflection of their final thoughts when they die together struck by bullets <3
Some people in asylums in the 50s were crazy. Some of them were psychotic, screaming at things nobody else could see. Some of them were aggressive, kicking and punching and biting without provocation. Some of them were a danger to themselves. Hell, some of them were a danger to others. And they were people. They were human beings. And all human beings deserve human rights, something those people, by law, didn't have.
Some people in mental hospitals now are crazy. Some of us are psychotic. Some of us are aggressive. Some of us are a danger to ourselves. Some of us are a danger to others. And we are still humans, who deserve human rights, which we legally do not have.
Some of us, a few of the crazy people you talk about, are exactly what you say we are. Psychotic, aggressive, a danger to ourselves and others. That doesnt change the fact that we are human. That doesnt change the fact that every individual human that exists, has ever existed, and will ever exist deserves human rights. That doesnt change the fact that we don't have those human rights in every situation. "Few of us are aggressive," while true as a statement, fails to acknowledge and insist that those of us who are still deserve to be treated with the same dignity and respect as any other person.
wheelchair users deserve a minimum of three wheelchairs to meet different needs. like, bare minimum of indoor chair, outdoor chair, and off road chair. chairs that meet different needs for transport, activity, positioning needs, energy levels, etc.
there is not "one chair" that can meet every need. wheelchair users deserve to have multiple chairs that meet specific needs, no matter how complex their seating/positioning needs. we deserve to at least have a backup if our chair breaks that is just as suited to our needs.
wow this blew up
for anyone who doesn't know, wheelchairs are very expensive and insurance will usually only cover one every five years or only cover a new one if your needs have changed significantly. the expense is especially true for anyone who has complex positioning needs (i.e. requiring tilt/recline/elevation in power wheelchairs, general group 3 power wheelchair needs, one arm drive for manual wheelchairs, etc.). as with so many disability related issues, those most impacted by their disability are most at risk of harm when adequate support is out of reach.
this post isn't a joke about how we deserve more for being disabled. this is a very real issue for many wheelchair users, for whom using a wheelchair not suited to their needs can cause very real harm. access to multiple wheelchairs that meet your needs can save lives, and the financial limits placed on disabled people (through insurance, through savings caps, through limited income) prevent that from being our reality!
In the US, healthcare is a commodity for the rich.
I had to use a standard medical transport chair (that my partner found broken beside the road w a “free” sign on garbage day) for 2 years because insurance wouldn’t cover even 1 wheelchair. It caused severe and longlasting pain, but it was the only way I could go outside. When I finally got a custom chair, it wasn’t because insurance approved it - my partner got a credit card, which we spent over a year paying hundreds of dollars to each month. Not even 2 years later and I already need a new wheelchair, as both my physical needs and measurements have changed drastically (they are literally measured down to quarter-inches and half-degrees) but there’s no way I can get it.
