This choice of shopping is one Victor cannot say he regrets. Not at all. Cardia well-deserves the open air, plus an extra trip around the city to help her learn the ins and outs of it is just an added benefit. It’s this reflect that he finds himself in to be deep - she’s already grown quite a bit from the day he met her and Lupin and the others, and he only hopes she can continue to grow. 

He suddenly feels a grip on his hand, which takes him out of his distraction and back to reality. “Ah, yes? Wha-”his words are too cut short as he finds her slipping away.

 He has to be strong enough to hold onto her, but in his attempt to lock his hold on her gloved hand, he finds himself falling straight into the River Thames as well. “Cardia!” He gasps, trying to do all he could in the short amount of time to at least ease the fall and get them to shore.  He can’t let it go like this, and he definitely has a feeling that this accident would really throw them off. ‘Get to shore!’ He repeats as he makes sure he knows Cardia is close, and he swims.

Cardia had no time to think as she splashed into the river, a hand holding hers as they descended. She had memorized many points about problems in water, but none of them had to do with suddenly falling into an enormous river. She listened to Victor’s voice, gripping his hand as tightly as she could as she attempted to swim along with him. Unfortunately, she had truly no clue how to swim, so she was batting her legs to kick herself forward as well as she could, hoping that Victor would be able to make up for her lack in expertise. Upon feeling the fact that Victor was also using his hands as best he could to swim, she let go quickly and instead wrapped her arms around his waist. She felt that her holding onto his waist was probably hurting more than helping their situation, but she since she knew nothing, she didn’t know if it actually hurt his progress or not.

Once they got a breather on the edge of the River, with Victor holding onto a ledge that they happened upon that lead them towards land, Cardia coughed out all of the water that had gotten into her system forcefully, holding onto Victor to make sure she didn’t fall out of his reach. “I-I-I’m-I’m sor-sorry, Victor,” Cardia wheezed out, continuing to cough roughly. “I did-didn’t mean to- to d-do that.” She felt truly terrible; they were just out for a day of shopping, and now they had floated down the river away from where they were going and were completely drenched. No one would want to trade with them in the state they were in. “It- It’s all ru-ru-ruined, a-and I-I’m sorry!”

Lupin cannot deny the fact that he does appreciate her choice of accompaniment, and he’s glad as ever to have her join him on this pathway to the train station so that they can purchase tickets to board the train properly. They need at least two - perhaps a third for safe keeping in regards to his plan, as Cardia herself is free to choose her part of the day. The amount of tickets purchased isn’t quite so relevant as the matter of acquisition, since it’s better to have more than less, and they had the money. 

“Should they require our identification for purchasing a few measly train tickets, then I have a plan, Cardia. And no, it would be another disguise!” There’s no need for a repeat here, but at least she’s getting the hang of it! She’ll be a master in no time; he’s confident in that. “The danger posed isn’t so imminent that we’d be arrested for causing no harm at all! Don’t worry, mademoiselle. If it somehow comes to our need to flee, I will assist you. Just act natural, Cardia. You can’t look so nervous if you want this to succeed. That’s all a part of the plan.”

The ticket counter seems so close, and Lupin casually approaches it with not a worry or twinge of apprehension on his features, “What a pity our dear friend could not join us to purchase his own ticket. Isn’t that right, dear? Now, my good sir, three tickets  for the morrow’s evening boarding.”

Cardia was relieved. Lupin always had a plan, after all, and it always had a zero percent chance of failure. She knew all that, but reassurement was always welcome to calm her anxiousness. She sighed in relief, before looking forward in determination. “You got it, Lupin!” She cheered softly, smiling gratefully at him. She’s not going to mess this up like she did at the entrance to London again.

And once again, it suddenly began to topple. “Oh, y-yes, yes indeed,” Cardia nodded along with Lupin’s declarations softly, holding her hands next to her chest as she felt the determination she had mustered begin to fall, one piece at a time. It seemed like holding her hands up to the Horologium always calmed her. She didn’t know how it worked, nor why it calmed her, but she wasn’t about to question it at that moment.

“Before I hand you your tickets,” the ticket man told them with a sigh, “I will need your identifications, and a proof of such for both of you, and also for the ‘dear friend’ of yours. There was an... accident that had occurred due to a passenger’s malicious intentions, and therefore we would like to acquire proof that you are who you say you are, and not a criminal.”

Cardia gazed up at Lupin slowly, and yet faster than she had wanted. She did her best to look like she was waiting for Lupin to speak of his ‘identity’ before her, and not someone who was panicking. She managed to do both at the same time. She hoped that she wouldn’t have to truly do anything herself, and that he would have a plan for such.

Cardia awoke suddenly, feeling unsettled. There was something new around her, but she couldn’t determine what it was. Perhaps it was the new bed? She had only arrived at the Saint-Germain mansion two days prior, after all. However, the day before had not been as off-putting. She opened her eyes slowly, looking around carefully. Perhaps someone was in the same room, watching her?

She gazed deeply into the shadows. There was nothing off about them. No silhouette was hidden inside them; and if there was, Cardia wasn’t experienced in detecting figures. She rose up from her laying stance, still quite unsure about what was making her uncomfortable in this room, when it caught her eye.

A... goat?

Cardia stared at the seemingly stuffed goat that sat on the couch in front of her, her gaze unwavering as the goat peered up at her the same way. The glossed-over black eyes definitely gave her proof that it wasn’t alive... but the fact that it suddenly rose contradicted that thought. Cardia couldn’t help but cry out in horror and raise her hand to shield her face as its limbs moved erratically, very differently from a regular goat. Why was it even a goat? They already had a dog in the house. Speaking of which, she thought to herself, turning quickly to the dog that was at her side. Sisi, awoken from Cardia’s movement, was made very much upset by the robotic goat, growling at it as his first defense against the intruder. “Sisi,” Cardia comforted, taking Sisi into her arms as they both stared at the goat, “it’s alright. It’s probably just Impey. Why wouldn’t he just give it to me in the morning instead of slipping it into my room at night?” She rose from her bed, leaving a wide area between them and the goat which turned to continue staring at them. Cardia scrunched up her face and quickly fled the room, searching for someone who could assist her with the unsettling goat.

She entered the lounge area and found Lupin sitting in one of the chairs, working on... something. Cardia didn’t really care at that moment. Her eyes flickered behind her, where the goat was following them at an abnormal speed. She fought the urge to scream in horror, allowing herself to instead shiver and look back at Lupin. “Lupin?” She asked uncertainly, releasing Sisi as she came to Lupin’s side. Sisi placed himself between Cardia and the goat protectively. The goat stopped in front of Sisi, craning its head as if questioning why Sisi stood between them. “Lupin,” she tapped Lupin’s shoulder excessively, attempting to gather his attention to her and the thing in front of them. “Lupin, please assist.” She shakily pointed to the goat if he didn’t notice it, wincing as the goat moved slightly.

Cardia bowed before Leonhardt slowly, looking around at his troops with a scrutinous gaze. “What are you here for?” She questioned, standing tall amidst the sea of yellow. React to Dangerous Situations, Chapter Three, Point Seventeen, she recited in her head. When danger surrounds you, do not cower in fear. Stand with determination as if nothing will bring you down.

Cardia fought to keep her glove on as her mind told her to take it off. All of the research notes that her father left for her (or perhaps left accidentally) reverberated in her mind, reminding her that the poison she wielded could protect her from danger. The thoughts of her father fought the thoughts of her experiences, which told her that showing her poison to the men in yellow could make them hate her and want to hurt her even more so. All of those thoughts also fought her own thoughts about the matter...

I do not want to cause pain.

Cardia’s hands trembled of their own volition as the dogs at the soldiers’ feet growled at her. Don’t bite me, she attempted to say, but her mouth couldn’t open. Don’t hurt yourself. Run away. She looked back up at Leonhardt, her hands joining together at her chest as she awaited his reply. She could feel her bravado faltering with the knowledge that someone would get hurt soon.

So much for determination.

Cardia and Victor were walking around the city, attempting to track down a chemical Victor needed for his latest experiment. However, Cardia hadn’t visited that particular part of London before, and she was very excited to learn more about it. Clothing, tea, antique, and other types of stores were everywhere, and Cardia couldn’t help but press herself against glass windows to try seeing inside all of them. She only let herself take a split second look before following Victor, knowing that this mission was important to him.

Cardia suddenly gasped, stepping towards a ledge to look closer at the sight that caught her eye. “Victor!” She called for him, staring at the view in front of her. They were standing at the edge of the River Thames, the watery expanse flowing along beautifully. “Victor, come here! The river is beautiful here!” She told him, her eyes flicking towards him. It seemed to Cardia that Victor was too absorbed in his thoughts to hear her, however, causing her to quickly grab his hand to bring him to where she had stood a moment ago. “Loo-” She began to instruct him before her eyes grew wide. Oh no, Cardia thought, her sight flickering to her feet as they slipped off the edge. Oh no!

In the next instant, Cardia plunged into the River Thames.

Another day at Saint-Germain’s mansion meant another day she helped out one of her teammates with whatever they needed to do. She had helped Saint-Germain clean the mansion and its garden the day prior, had assisted Victor with his experimenting the day before that, and had helped Impey cook everyday so that he wouldn’t have to spend as much time with it, along with assisting with his machine work. She wanted to finally get out of the house and see the world out there again; she didn’t like confinement, but she was mostly alright with it if she was helping people.

She had chosen to assist Lupin that day. He was going to go retrieve tickets for the train they were going to use later that month. Since they knew a lot of soldiers will be boarding the train when they were doing their mission, they didn’t want to go to buy tickets at the time of boarding and be told that there were none left.

Cardia shyly looked up at Lupin as they traveled to the train station. “What will be our disguise this time?” She asked him softly, holding her hands up to her Horologium instinctively. “Will it be like last time, with the... the... the Dudley?” She strained her mind to remember the name that was briefly mentioned, not having repeated it to memory inside her mind yet. “Or perhaps another type of disguise? Will these people be as particulate as the guards at the gates of London about who we are? Will we be in danger of being caught and arrested?” She truly wished to know how dangerous a trip to the train station ticket window was.
