what scares you; open

Dom had been staring at the letter for nearly an hour now, ever since the owl had delivered it. She knew who it was from, it was what as inside that scared the shit out of. A part of her wished that she had told her intentions to apply to be a curse breaker to her father and not keep it a secret from everyone. That way she would at least have someone to talk to and help her ease her nerves. But what if she didn’t get in? That was the whole point of all the secrecy so if she didn’t get in she could just act like nothing had happened, she could go on with her life and no one would even know that her own dream had been crushed.

“Stop being a coward…” She mumbled to herself under her breath as she continued to stare at the letter from Gringotts and turn it over and over in her hands. She was brave, she was  a Weasley and a Gryffindor after all but she felt an unfamiliar tightness in her chest that could only be described as panic. She had thought of this day for so long, imagined the joy if she got into the program and cringed at the idea that she would be rejected. Every time she reached to rip the wax Gringotts seal her fingers would freeze and she would feel a shortness of breath, and the little girl in her wanted to run to her father and hide behind his back until the fear went away.
