Blood loss due to periods
How much blood does a person lose to their period over the course of their life? In order to do this, we are going to work with averages. The average amount of blood a person loses via a period is 6 - 8 tsp (30 - 40 ml). The average age of menopause is 51. Let’s assume person X starts their period at 13 years old and has regular periods. 51 - 13 = 38 years of having periods 38 years * 12 periods/year = 456 periods 456 periods * 40 ml/period = 18,240 ml of blood 18,240 ml = 18.2 liters So the average person who has a period will lose about 18.2 liters of blood over the course of their life due to their period. The average human body holds 5.5 liters of blood. tldr: Over the course of a lifetime, the average period-haver will lose over 3 times the amount of blood in a human body due to periods.
