Justice Ginsberg passed on and I am deeply saddened and angered. Saddened because as a human being I recognize that this is the passing of another human being and although I did not know her personally, I know she was a strong willed wonderful woman who was a representation of how women are able to be whatever they want to be. That being said I am angered because some people that I have seen their reactions are viewing her as a political piece first and a human being second. Please think of the family before you post. Think about what it is like to mourn a family member and have to watch as everyone fights to get the upper hand politically. She was a HUMAN BEING not a pawn or chess piece A HUMAN BEING and she had family who probably would rather not have to watch people debate over whether her death is an asset to their political party as if she was meaningless. She was a person. So while I understand that politics play a role take a second before you discuss politics and who will be taking her spot, think about her family and how she is just as important as any other person. Think about there are friends and family that are mourning rn. Think of her as a human being first, an activist second, and a political game changer last. Don’t think of the election first. I know this is scary for a lot of people but please think of the family. She is more than a pawn. She work hard enough to be recognized as more than that. #ripjusticeginsberg

What’s worse than having no friends? Having “friends” that only allow you in the group so they don’t seem like a d!ck and then use you to copy off of you and bully you and pretend it’s “joking around” to the point of gaslighting you so much that when people actually want to be your friend you can’t accept someone being your friend bc everyone you ever considered a friend back in the day would leave you when you invited them to your house so they could go do drugs with your ex stepsister. And now all you do is just linger in between groups never feeling like you belong bc you never did in the first place. So now all you do is work and school to the point where even your parents will take you on impromptu drives with no destination because you “don’t ever get out of the house”. No friends is lonely but being uncomfy to be called someone’s best friend when you don’t associate them further than an acquaintance bc your brain doesn’t allow that level of friendship

I don’t know why some people assume that you don’t know more than someone older. Like no, your age doesn’t determine how much you know. The amount of researching and experience on a specific subject gives you more knowledge over someone who hasn’t. If you want proof, look at iphones. Often younger people who grew up with it know more than those just learning (ie usually those who grew up with phone books). Age isn’t the defining factor on who knows more, it’s the experience. You can’t tell who will know more about something by looking at their age alone. You need to look at the experience they have. Society needs to stop assuming that one generation always knows more than the other and start learning from each other. Baby Boomers, ask your younger realitives about today’s issues and ask why they think that. Gen Z, ask your grandparents or parents why they chose to live the life they did, what they’ve learned along the way. The only thing that keeps a generational war going is the refusal to accept that we aren’t always right or wrong.

I realize not a lot of people understand how to show empathy without bringing the convo towards themselves with a story how they went through something similar. So if you need some phrases to show you care but don’t want to tell the story about yourself try some of these phrases:

“That must have been hard. You’re strong for making it through that”

“Do you need anything?”

“Why don’t we do [insert an activity the person likes]?”

“What do you need right now?”

“Do you want help?”

“I might not know what you’re going through but I’m here for you”

And for extreme cases “do you want me to go to the [insert emergency center such as er or police station] with you?”

Remember sometimes people need an ear and sometimes they need help and support.

the longer you allow someone to be racist, the more difficult it is later to make them realize theyre wrong. as a 5 year old my mom explained to me that there people that hate us because we’re native, and at the same time explained to me what racism is and why its wrong. i really didnt understand why someone would hate us for being native, but i still fully understood that its wrong

if children of color are capable of understanding that we’d have to deal with hate throughout our lives for who we are then that white 14 year old is old enough to understand that racism is bad and old enough to be held accountable for things theyve said or done to children of color

and bc i know how white people on this site are and how they love to twist our words: no, the mean indian woman isnt saying that you should harass children

A habit, ideal, or thought is more easily learned at or before the age of 5 (which is when the basis of your personality is developed) but just bc you learn the base of your personality at 5 doesn’t mean you can’t unlearn those things. People who smoke quit, people who were abused break the cycle, people who grew up with bad parents can grow to be a better person. The learning of what right and wrong doesn’t stop at any point. You can always learn to be better. Hate is a LEARNED quality. You can unlearn it. We come into this world loving and accepting. We are taught to think of this ideal where one person is better for reasons people cannot control. People cannot control their skin color, their sexuality, their gender, their family, or disabilities. So do not judge people based on their skin color, sexuality, gender, family, or disabilities. If you wouldn’t want to be treated like you treat them then YOU need to treat them better.

Theatre kids that don’t make it to broadway should consider being English teachers or in the fbi bc you guys can make connections and can find out every detail of 8037373 musicals down to the light crews’s birthdays. But I mean tip for theatre kids struggling in English class, research the book y’all are reading like it’s your favorite musical. Look at quotes as if you were looking at a song lyric that most people would just glance over. Find quotes that seem insignificant and challenge yourself to relate it to something that doesn’t occur to other people. Look into the author’s backstory. Why did he choose to write this book? Where did the inspiration for these characters? Why did some characters show once In the story? What purpose do each of them serve to the main character and to each other. Do they bring others down? Or do they lift them up? Look at books as if they were musicals and you are a theatre kid.

Can someone tell me why some people are so exasperated by the idea that if you couldn’t bring a child into a world like this that you would have to settle with your children learning how to deal with it. Please understand that while I know that to some people family heritage and all that is important but.. if you truly don’t want to bring a child into a world that you do not deem suitable that doesn’t mean you can’t have children. Adopt. There are probably millions of kids out there that would love a chance to have a loving family that cares about them. You don’t have to have the same blood to be family. Family is about love, acceptance, and the relationship of 2 or more caring people. Please don’t think that the only options are giving birth or not having children. There are so many options: Adopt, Surrogacy, Not having children, or having them yourself, fostering, etc. I’ve heard it all too often in my life. I don’t want children at all, but if I change my mind the kids I raise and love will not come from my womb. You don’t owe anyone to make those decisions for you but please do consider that there are more than 2 options.

I might get hate on this because of the content but I’ve been reminded a lot from social media on how certain people use religion as a means to an end. I myself am Christian. And because I am Christian, I believe that everyone should be able to be whatever you want, be whom ever you are. And I Believe this because it says in the Bible that I as a human being should not be righteous enough to judge others. If you think that you’re a righteous Christian and a child of God and that because you believe and worship in him that you can use the Bible to twist words to make it seem like someone is sinning, I just want to remind you that you are sinning when doing that. Religion is about belief in a better world, in a world where everyone is good and righteous because they believe in God not his followers. However this doesn’t mean I stand for hate. Of any kind. Do not hate someone of a different race, gender, relgion, lifestyle than your own. Because the thing about relgion is that it revolves around faith not fact. I can believe that my God is real but I do not know that he is real until I am in the ground. But until then I will stand in my own life in my own judgement to become a better person and make this world a better place. Nobody can yell sinner without being a sinner. I am Christian, and this means that I believe in lgbtqa+ rights, that blm, I’m pro-choice, and that if I don’t believe in a lifestyle or faith that someone else has that I don’t shame them for not living exactly like me. Listen to the issues of the world, and do not judge another’s fight. Because no matter how many times you go to church, or pray, or read your religious text, it will never be enough to be perfect bc that is an unachieveable goal. At the end of the day, I don’t know what god is real, if there is one. But I do know that humans exist and they should be able to live however they want as long as it does not hurt others.

I know I don’t have a big following (or any) on this site but I just want to talk about something. I always see people talking about normality. They either want themselves to be normal or they want others to be normal. But what does ‘normal’ look like? I think it’s like beauty, all of us have our own definition of it. And as much as society and the media and other people want to push us into their definition. ‘Normal’ is not something you can really quantify.

Normal may be a word, but it makes as much sense to call someone normal as it does to call someone perfect. There is not one person on this earth that is normal or perfect because we are all unique. And (this is the important part) ITS OKAY THAT WE ARE DIFFERENT. It’s ok if you’re not a cis straight white conforming human being. As long as you do not hurt someone, why should being the same matter? How boring would it be to have everyone agree with you all the time? I’d like to remind everyone that the most ignorant people think they know everything, intelligence is shown when people can recognize they don’t have all the answers. It’s ok to be wrong. Its okay to be different. Whether there is a god or not, no matter which one you believe in, there is a reason for everyone on this planet to be on this planet. You matter and it has nothing to do with what you believe in. YOU MATTER NO MATTER WHAT IT IS THAT MAKES YOU DIFFERNT.

Prom one shot

The voices are muffled together as the night ends. As prom ends for the second time. Girls all around her were sleeping in the arms of their beloved boyfriends on their way home. Boyfriends that most likely will not make it far from this cool, crisp night in which they all danced until the sun went down and all the makeup was drenched in sweat. She couldn’t be as content though because Delilah was not sitting next to someone so comforting. Her seating partner was not her best friend or her boyfriend. No, Joey lived in the state over, right on the border, and was too old to reveal that they were actually dating. Liah was 17 while Joey was a mere 18 years old. She couldn’t focus on sleep, as she was wide awake. All she was focused on is how she wished she was in the arms of her soul mate, snuggling in his giant bed, not giving him room to spread out. She refused to think of it, the thought would only feed into her want. Instead she looked around the town, now dark and luminous with street lights. The largest light was the glow in the dark bracelet that they had given them all at the beginning of the night. Liah was surprised it still glowed, but it did, true to its purpose. It gave off a soft yellow glow. True to its purpose it gave off happiness.

Unpopular opinion but

Doing chores = self care because you do them for your own well being. You don’t need a face mask (use one if you like) to do self care. Do whatever makes you feel accomplished or even just a little better. Clean your room, take a shower/bath, go out with friends, recharge your social battery, even just eating when you’re hungry. Also I felt cute in this photo so.
