If the media as a whole would stop dumbing everything down everyone would eventually be forced to become smarter
tardisesandtitans: How did you find out you wanted to become a journalist?
Well, I was in a journalism class my freshman year of high school mostly because I loved the teacher and had followed him from 8th grade (middle school) and he really wanted to work with more students that he already knew.Â
I always knew that I could two professions: acting or writing. Mostly because I have a head full of useless knowledge and those are the two professions that that is good for. I fell in love with journalism. I was also doing a lot of theatre at the time but I quickly realized which of the two professions was easier to make money in (unless you are really really lucky) and just stuck with it. When you are a kid who lives off of handmidowns and food pantry you really want to do something that can guarantee you money, not poverty (again unless you are really, really lucky).
I was on the high school newspaper from my second trimester as a freshmen. I was jr news editor my second trimester as a freshman and I was the news editor for my first trimester my junior year but then I got sick and in order to graduate on time I had to give it up as an elective my third trimester as a junior, otherwise I might have been Editor-In-Chief my senior year.
And at college I am a journalism major with a double minor in photojournalism and French. I worked for the Odyssey for a year, but they are almost worse than Buzzfeed with how they treat their employees. And now I am a reporter for my high school newspaper, I also deliver the papers and I am hoping to be a copy editor so that I can fast track it to being Editor-In-Chief but who knows?
Journalist problem #2
Having every thing you need to write but procrastinating because you feel like you could have more.Â
Journalist problem #1
Nothing is more infuriating than working on a story with someone in power, who refers you to another place, they confer together and say, “You know that info we said we would give you yeah the first guy who sent you said we shouldn’t do it.” It’s like why send me for info then tell me via that person that you can’t give me the info?

I am a mirror, not a person.
Me as a journalist when I want to inject my thoughts into an article but remind myself that I have to be neutral and just repeat what has been told to me. (via korracrat)
