For the final I drew and colored a hummingbird in a heart. Hummingbirds were my grandma's favorite bird and I love seeing them in the wild. I used complementary colors between the heart and the background. Even though the darker green looks like teal in the photo, it's actually a darker green. I did my best to make the feathers look iridescent like they looked in the photo I looked up but couldn't quite replicate it with markers.
I replicated ideas from the Formal Elements lesson and from NYC 1980's art lesson. I used complementary colors and "S" shapes in the background. I also included the heart based on many of Keith Haring's artworks we looked at. I love his work and all of the advocacy he's done for the LGBTQ+ community and wanted an aspect of his work shown in my final.
