My name is Katie and I am a senior at St. Bonaventure Univerity and love video games. I am also a fan of Rupaul's Drag Race and am excited to see how this class can shape me.

For the final I drew and colored a hummingbird in a heart. Hummingbirds were my grandma's favorite bird and I love seeing them in the wild. I used complementary colors between the heart and the background. Even though the darker green looks like teal in the photo, it's actually a darker green. I did my best to make the feathers look iridescent like they looked in the photo I looked up but couldn't quite replicate it with markers.

I replicated ideas from the Formal Elements lesson and from NYC 1980's art lesson. I used complementary colors and "S" shapes in the background. I also included the heart based on many of Keith Haring's artworks we looked at. I love his work and all of the advocacy he's done for the LGBTQ+ community and wanted an aspect of his work shown in my final.

For this week, I drew a hot air balloon with two people in the basket soaring through the skies. One of my more peaceful moments in life was when I went on a hot air balloon ride during a festival. Normally, we were in the chase car following the balloon until it landed, but the family that booked the ride canceled, so we went on a ride over Binghamton, NY. I put a heart in the balloon in a similar way that Keith Haring put hearts and love in his work. I also put two people in the basket, as it would be an extremely romantic trip, as Haring is always professing love for all. The song I chose was (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) by the Beastie Boys

For this week's project, I decided to make a rhombus out of sticks and put leaves in the corners. The rhombus was created by the ancient Greeks, and the 3D version is likened to a spinning top. The translation means "something that spins", or "spinning top." This was later added to by mathematicians and specifically those who practice Geometry. The sides are all equal in length, but have acute and obtuse angles making the diamond shape rather than a square.

The Greeks would make these of wood and attach a string to it, making it spin. Today, we can see rhombuses all around us, such as street signs, baseball diamonds, jewelry, kites, and patterns on clothes.

The meaning behind my art can't fully be seen in the photos, but the corners all line up with the cardinal directions of North, South, East, and West. I did this because no matter where I go in life, I can always find my way back home, and who knows, I might one day have a new area to call home.

I chose the phrase I did because it encapsulates how I've felt within my skin ever since I was in middle school. When I was really young I would wear dresses and skirts but I never felt fully comfortable in them, and once I was a teenager I would do anything to not wear them. I became a tomboy and now I dress androgynously almost exclusively. I prefer wearing blazers and pants, but I have one or two dresses I wear occasionally. This phrase is perfect because the dresses weren't for me, they were for the boys society told me I should like and want to marry. The song I chose is a cover of Queen's We Will Rock You by In This Moment. The song is a cover by three metal vocalists, Lizzy Hale, Taylor Momsen, and the vocalist of In This Moment Maria Brink. Their voices make me feel empowered as they are all powerful vocalists.

For this week's assignment, I played around with a stained glass butterfly lamp to see how it reflects on the surfaces of different decorations. The butterfly was given to my mom after a loss in the family and I propped it up on a box to put it on a higher plane than the military flag and jellyfish. Every night I see how it reflects on the flag case but I wanted to see how it would reflect on the resin jellyfish. I find it interesting how the lights reflect onto the table from both the lamp and the election of the jellyfish. This was the best photo out of the three I took.

For this week's assignment, I took the cap of a condiment bottle, paper towels, toothpicks, and an old Lego set that I never go around to finishing. I made it seem like a meteor crashed into the painting and blew apart the Lego Pokemon. The condiment cap is the crater left by the meteor and it was a little hard to get the tail of the meteor to stand up so I propped it up using toothpicks and tape. At first, I tried to make the meteor out of tissues but they started to dissolve while I was using markers on them so I opted for a sturdier paper towel.

I used a Super Bowl ad from BJ's and chose the chips page to make my pop art out of. BJ's has a good selection of bulk chips and crackers for lower prices than most stores in my area. For example, a big bag of Pop Corners is $7.98 for an 18 oz bag, a 12 oz bag at Weis is $5.49, and an 8 oz bag is a dollar less. America is a consumerism country where more is better and that's why big box stores like BJ's and Sam's Club can do just as well, if not better than typical grocery stores. I'm a cashier at a grocery store so I see people spending $200 a week to feed their families, and a lot of it is junk food. People would rather spend on chips and cookies than fruit and vegetables, and I'm saying that as someone who does the exact same thing.

I made a piece that is about the two sides of depression. There is a piece that the whole world sees, and then the piece that only you and maybe a few close people know about. A side that radiates positivity and shows the world that everything is ok while under the surface cracks appear and the positivity is only a mask.

I used the stickers of the sun, rain cloud, and bed online and kept the lines straighter in my sketchbook than I did on Canva. I really enjoyed this assignment and I took inspiration from Keith Haring and his stick figure art.

For this week I used Trent's and Jalen's artwork and combined them into my own. Rather than including the shark in space I included his spaceship flying over the cherry blossom tree. The background is purple just like the complementary colors background in the space artwork and I think it makes the cherry blossoms pop.

I pulled my outfit and accessories from a GRWM magazine and i wanted to create an edgy look. The shirt and skirt were worn by Meredith Duxbury on a red carpet for a fashion event. The purse adds a little pop of color to the black and white outfit and the bracelet adds a shine to the look. The shoes are made by Prada and give a lifted goth vibe to the look. I chose yellow and purple to make the pop of red stand out and also to make the black and white pop rather than fade into the background.

The album is called “Abbey Road”. The inspiration that I took from this album is the road running through the middle with four people walking on a crosswalk. I made this artwork my own but adding different animals and having the road running through nature. My favorite song from this Beatles album is Come Together.

I love this artwork! it's so creative to make the band members animals crossing the street. I don't think I would have ever thought about that but it's awesome since humans are hard to draw. I also love the song as it's a classic, Great job!

This is my first assignment for class. The album I selected was Appetite for Destruction by Guns and Roses. I selected this album because I have listened to it all my life and I listen to it before hockey games. As you can see I added my own touch to the album. Obviously because the band is called Guns and Roses so I added guns and roses. My favorite song from the album is Welcome to the Jungle, it really gets me fired up. I hope you all enjoy my work

This is awesome! I grew up listening to classic rock and Guns N Roses was always on in the car. I love the inclusion of the bunches of roses in the artwork and how the guns could be a reference to the phrase "you're gonna die" later on in the song.

The album cover I chose was Scoring The End of The World by Motionless In White. This album actually has three separate covers but this is a limited-edition cover that only has 10,000 copies. My favorite song from this album is "Slaughterhouse", it is a song about corporate America and how the machine does not care about the pawns in the system. Most of the songs on this album are about how we as a society are finding different ways to cause the end of the world through labor, climate change, AI, and politics.

In my artwork, I incorporated the raven flying over the apocalyptic scene. The volcano is a reference to the lead-off track "Meltdown", a song about climate change, and the sky is different colors due to the ozone layer being damaged. I included Saturn, the moon, and a falling down billboard from my scrapbooking set to add to the apocalyptic world.

I am an introverted nerd that loves video games such as the Red Dead Redemption games, The Elder Scrolls franchise, and the Borderlands series. I have two dogs named Harriet and Bandit, they are crazy but I wouldn't have it any other way. Also, I love RuPaul's Drag Race and have seen every single season that is in English as it's a great way to kill time when you are sick. I tend to stick by myself nine times out of ten as my social battery tends to drain fast and I need time to recharge before being in a group setting again.
