“You could have a treat too, if you want one.” Mikayla teased, winking in his direction.
“Oh yeah, please, I’m always for a good dog treat.” He said sarcastically.
“I’m sorry, I’ll leave soon… but just one more.”Â
“I didn’t even say anything about that, but now that I think about it, shouldn’t you slow down? In case, you know, randomly drop dead.”
ciaolyra:
“I don’t think you would have hurt me..“ She said, sighing as she pretended to give up her argument. In her head a plan was already in order, and she was going to take care of the situation in the best way possible. His family does deserve to know what happened after all. “Yeah, sure.” Lyra replied, pretending to make herself useful by picking up her phone and wallet, which had fallen during the struggle. “I’ll wait here.” She waited until he was far enough to pick up the bow and without second guessing shot a couple of arrows aimed at him, watching in horror as they hit him in the back.
Her words echoed in his mind as he walked away from the scene to look for a better burial place. There was no point in overthinking it but he wished she didn’t put that much trust in him when it came to not losing control. It was exactly that which led him to becoming the monster he was now anyways. He did think her sudden change was odd, but seeing as it was getting late and he just wanted to go home he didn’t give it much thought, there wasn’t much for her to do anyways, except... He remembered the bow and vervains bathed arrows as soon as he head them rapidly aiming at him. Without much time to react he felt them hit him hard and once again everything went black before he could do anything to help himself.Â
Task 02: About Me
“Here boy, want a treat?”
“So for a slight second I thought you were talking me, I’m glad that’s not the case.”
ciaolyra:
“You could have fed on me instead!” Lyra continued to contradict him, wanting to find a good enough excuse to make her guilt go away. How could she pretend everything would be ok after this when she actually happened to have worked with him. “What about his family? Won’t they try to find him? You can’t just get rid of him as if he were another empty snack bag. You can’t do that. I won’t let you.” She yelled back at him, remaining still as her eyes fell on the hunters bow. The arrows appeared to have vervain, maybe she could take care of it before him….she had to at least try. “I’m not sure he would have killed me, Dorian, but fine, go ahead and take him. I’ll wait here. I’ll check your work when you are done.” She said with a tone of authority, not daring break eye contact.
Dorian could understand why she was unleashing her anger at him. She knew the hunter, yeah, but he could not have guessed that and would not have had it any other way either. It was either having to kill him or getting themselves killed. There was no point in thinking about the guilt, he knew if he did he wasn’t going to cope with it well, and the last thing he wanted was to go on an emotional downhill spiral. “I couldn’t have done that because you don’t understand how hungry I was, I could have hurt, and I...” He shook his head, finding himself unable to to finish his sentence as he grew frustrated. “I can’t think about that right now, it has to be on thing at a time, Lyra, just let me finish this.” He spoke as he scanned the place for a possibly burial spot. “Just wait here a moment okay? Let me check if there are any good spots behind those trees.”Â
ciaolyra:
“No! I knew him. I knew him!” Lyra said over and over again. “He was a night guard at the museum and you killed him. You could have let him go!” She continued to fight him, until eventually giving up. She was never going to win against someone like him. Letting herself fall back, she covered her face with her hands as something like snow began to fall over them. “Why is this all happening? What am I going to say if they ask me anything?”
“That doesn’t matter, Lyra, he was a hunter it was in his nature.” Dorian yelled out, pushing himself back away from her. Her suddenly stop made him thankful for a slight second. he still didn’t know why she was suddenly overreacting, especially when her life had been in danger as well. He remained on the ground for a moment a shook his head. “You don’t have to say anything, Lyra, I’ll take care of this, maybe you should just go home.” That was the best thing he could come up with at that point. They had had too many brushes with death in the past twenty four hours, and he wasn’t going to add more to it now that there was salt and sugar falling from the sky. “I’ll let you know once I’m done; but believe me when I tell you that he was going to kill you too.”

Meredith chuckled a bit at his question, “Storm got everyone I think, but it’s not exactly easy being afraid of taking a shower.” She muttered shaking her head slightly before getting back to what she was doing. “Damn island traps us here then tries to kill us, seems to me like none of us are getting out unharmed.” She said with a slight shrug, taking out all her anger into the punching bag.
"Yeah, I know how that feels." He replied as he stretched his arms. "When you put it that way then it makes one regret having survived the trip here. I'm sure we'll get used to it, and there's always ways to master our weaknesses, meaning wolfsbane and vervain." He openly commented, not really minding if she realized what he was or not.
weremere-bear:
Meredith jumped a bit at the unfamiliar voice, she wasn’t expecting anyone to show up beside her. She glanced at the boy, pushing some hair that had fallen from her pony tail out of her face. “I have to make up for not being able to get out because of the storm.” She muttered, shrugging a bit. She did have her bite scar hidden under her t-shirt, given it was on her side, but she didn’t deny what she was, that being said she didn’t advertise it either.
“Didn’t mean to startle you.” He said, picking up a pair of boxing gloves. “The storm got you too, huh?” He asked, not wanting to intrude in asking exactly how it had hurt her. The rain had managed to do quite a number on him as well, and it was really taking him a while to get back to his old ways. There really appeared to be no way to get over a double dose of pain when it came to vervain and wolfsbane.Â
ciaolyra:
Everything had happened so fast that it took Lyra to properly process everything. She still didn’t understand if not a werewolf since she didn’t sense the vervain in the rain. His need for blood proved he was a vampire but that still didn’t add up, could he be both? Could he be like the creatures she had read about? “Please don’t do it!” She yelled to no avail when he attacked the hunter and then felt sick to her stomach when she watched him snap the man’s neck, feeling like she was in the presence of a monster now rather than the Dorian she knew. Her eyes filled with tears at the sight of the lifeless body falling, because as she looked at him, she realized she knew him, but that was soon replaced with rage as she walked toward him with arms raised. “Why! Why did you do that, why did you kill him like that!? You are a monster like the rest of them!”
Lyra’s reaction took Dorian off guard. The blood had really helped him regain some control of himself and he could feel his full strength coming back to him. When she ran up to him, hitting him, he fell back, letting her get her anger out of her system. It was a fact that he had just finished acting like a monster, and he didn’t mind if she hated him for it, at least now she was safe. Both of them were safe. She didn’t stop though, for she continued to struggle with him. “Lyra, please... he was going to kill you...” He said, trying to keep her from still hitting him directly.
Meredith desperately wanted her soccer skills to improve, to be able to do some really neat tricks while she played, but for that she needed more strength and technique. This particular afternoon she was at the gym, working on her kicks with the punching bags to strengthen her legs. Her technique was off, but she was obviously trying to improve it, though without the proper help her technique was unlikely to get better.
Dorian was at the gym trying to build up some stamina after the shower of vervain and wolfsbane he got a few days ago. It was like his father had always reminded him, don't dream of suffering because you'll suffer twice as much; si with that thought haunting his mind he thought it would be best to start training again. He ran first and then walked over to the punching bags where he spotted a girl kicking them with enthusiasm. "Are you pretending that's someone, or are you just really into this?”
ciaolyra:
“What?” Lyra turned to see what he had spotted and when she turned again he was long gone. The rain had stopped and it left her confused, why would she need to stay? She ran to the window, trying her hardest to spot anything and then saw the other man. Without thinking Lyra ran out, calling out to Dorian as she searched for him. She was confused but feared that he would attack that man. She offered herself exactly to avoid that and now she had stop him before it got to be too late. Just then, as she followed some noises, the other man came up from behind her and very softly told her your turn first, as he covered her mouth.
Why was is it so difficult to follow one single command? Dorian knew he wasn’t in the place to blame her, since he had done the same earlier, but he needed ensure she was okay and now she wasn’t. He had been trying to lead the hunten away from the cabin, watching him carefully from behind some trees; it was there when he saw the hunter target Lyra instead. Feeling his rage increase, he used his speed to get to where had taken her and got close enough to reach out if needed. “You want me not her, I’m the bigger threat.” He spoke in a cold tone. The hunter then grabbed his crossbow and aimed it at Dorian instead firing a few shots at him; one got him on the shoulder, and he could feel it burned as he moved away from the shots. He yanked it and using the last bit of strength he could find within him, and led by his hunger, he ran up to them, pushing both Lyra and crossbow away from him before breaking with a simple movement. Following his instincts he then sunk his teeth into the man’s neck, finally liberating himself from the hunger.Â
ciaolyra:
Lyra felt taken aback, she didn’t seem to understand at first but then remembered the hybrids. She felt uneasy and it sent chills down her spine, but she couldn’t let him go wild or back into the rain. Without much hesitation she pulled up her sleeve and took a step forward. “Just feed on me, get it over with. I can heal myself afterwards.”
Dorian shook his head, getting as close to the wall as he could. He had never fed on a human voluntarily, not even a mermaid and he wasn’t about to take advantage of her abilities to calm his forsaken thirst. “I can’t do th-” He trailed off, his sense picking up movement outside. Right as he was about to speak again he saw the man outside through the window, a hunter. How long had been out there? He wondered, but in the end it didn’t matter since his mind chose to better use him a blood bag than letting him leave with the knowledge that him and Lyra are supernaturals. “Stay here, alright? I found a better option.”Â
ciaolyra:
Lyra’s eyes widened when he snapped on her. She was not expecting him to take that reaction, weren’t werewolves only supposed to get violent during the full moon? “What do you mean? There’s no full moon outside, you can’t hurt me Dorian. Just try to control it, you are safe now.”
"I'm not just a werewolf, Lyra!" He explained, though not really wanting to get detailed about his different take on the curse that haunted him. Just then the rain's intensity slowed down and it brought him the hope that he would be able to leave before doing something stupid. "I can control it, just not for long enough. I need blood."
ciaolyra:
The rain continued to fall hard through the rest of the afternoon and night and Lyra didn’t dare step outside and make her condition worst. It took her a while to dry off, but not as long as it took Dorian to wake. He had really gone through a lot of pain in just a matter of minutes and she knew her attempts to help him had not been enough. She sat in the now dark shack, checking her phone to see if there were any news as to what had caused the storm, but it was very difficult to get connected. When he woke she smiled over at him. but then noticed he didn’t seem entirely ok. “What’s wrong?” she said, from her side of the room as she got up. “Are your clothes still wet? The rain hasn’t stopped, but maybe I can see if there’s anything around.”
"No! Don't go back outside." He snapped. The hunger had intensified and it was becoming more and more apparent; yet he fought the urges to launch himself on her and turn her into a meal. No matter how bad his murderous instincts, he knew he couldn't do that to her. Shaking his head he apologized, sitting up. "I can’t stay here, this is all becoming too much to handle and I don't want to hurt you."
ciaolyra:
Lyra dragged herself towards him but her tail felt heavy on land and his speed and strength were beyond anything she could imagine, still the rain got the best of him and in tears she watched as he slipped, still burning with everyone drop. Lyra glanced at her hand, noticing her ring and remembered a weak but helpful protection spell. She covered his face with the hand that held the ring and cradled him in her arms, continuing to drag the two of them towards the forest. The task was difficult and more than once she had to stop and throw her body on top of him to allow him to heal, but after a few hellish minutes they got the outskirt of the forest and the shack. She pushed him in with the last bit of strength she had left and let herself fall flat on the ground. Closing her eyes as she tried to regain some sense of what had happened.
A few hours must have gone by during the time he spent passed out healing from the rain. Never in his short immortal life had he experienced such pain. The mixture of vervain and wolfsbane really did a number on him and he really didn’t know if he was going to survive his stunt of getting the two of them to dry land. Part of him did get weak enough to die, multiple times, for every time he healed and woke, he would burn again. It was an awful torture to wake up to that, but when he woke up this time around there was no more pain, nor rain, just weakness and hunger. He looked to the side and saw Lyra, she appeared to have her legs again and he could tell they were inside the shack. Dorian didn’t dare to move much though, he didn’t want to hurt her, he didn’t want to feed on the girl that had saved his life. So in pain, he stayed in his corner of the shack, dreading his existence.Â
ciaolyra:
Lyra ran after him, knowing that it was the best thing to do in case it became too unbearable for him. She didn’t understand what he meant by saying he was worst than a werewolf, but at that moment there was no point in caring because she knew he wouldn’t hurt him, not with the rain. She tried hard to keep up, keeping her eyes on him through the rain. Not even a minute later she felt her legs give in, causing her to fall hard on the ground. With a turn she saw the blue fishtail that had replaced her legs. “You have to leave, keep going, I’ll find a way home” she said, seeing that he had stopped. “Please.” she said, feeling hopeless for the two of them.
Everything appeared to be a nightmare, how could this be happening? His vision continued to grow blurry as raindrops still fell on him from under the tree. That still didn’t mean he couldn’t see what was happening to Lyra; her legs had vanished and it too left her exposed to possible hunters. Dorian quickly broke off a tree branch to use as cover and shook his head around, to shake the water away from his head, took a deep breath and darted towards her, ignoring her plead. The rain fell harder and it burned him more than before, he fell just next to her and dragged her to him, pulling her back, slowly before the pain became too unbearable for him to handle. He felt himself fading into unconsciousness, taking a last glance at her before fainting from the pain.
