One thing I admire about this show's writing is how respectful it is when it comes to tackling the issue of mental health.
Jester knows that something is wrong with Molly, but she doesn't lash out at him, nor does she downplay what he's going through. She tells him that everything will be okay and offers to keep him company as they both leave.
And keep in mind this is all happening after the group fails to retrieve The Beacon, the team is getting the hell out of dodge, but Jester is the only one who bothers to check up on Molly's well being.
I'm gonna be obnoxious and actually talk about how important this interaction was to me.
When I was little I had some crazy anxiety problems that manifested as irrational bursts of anger and aggression. I didn't understand why I was lashing out. When I was asked why I did that my answer was the same as Molly's "I don't know :(". The way Jester handles Molly here is so perfect and sweet. Molly has no idea what's going on or why and he clearly doesn't like it. He's so young, a child even, in many ways. And then Jester is nothing but gentle even though she also doesn't understand what's happening.
I'm in tears writing this because I wish I had someone like Jester when I was struggling. The way she puts her arm around him is everything. It's comfort and guidance. It's acceptance and support. There's nothing loud about it, nothing demanding.
This show, although heart wrenching at times, is also healing parts of me that I didn't know still needed healing.
Jester may be a cleric that doesn't do healing spells but she's healing people in other ways and I love her for it.
