kazuha scaramouche ramble dont mind me
this is 100% branched off from peoples theories i just thought id share how it all connects in my head :) also not leak-free
MOSTLY ill talk about scaramouches backstory, which i based off of this theory and this theory
1. connection to raiden shogun
there are actually a lot of theories on how theyre connected, so ill be brief..
we know that raiden shogun is definitely based off of raiden mei, the herrscher of thunder from honkai impact. and looking at raiden mei’s design, there are a lot of things that connect back to scaramouche. the hair, eyes, colour schemes, and the symbol on the front of their clothes (likely just an electro symbol, but i find it interesting they both have it clear on their design, scaramouche also has this same symbol on his back)
raiden shogun is not only based off of raiden mei, but also raijin, the japanese god of lightning, thunder, and storms, whos often seen together with his brother fujin. theyre also often depicted to be fighting/at each others necks. scaramouche could very well be based off of fujin, and possibly be raiden shoguns brother, or somehow related. it would explain how raiden mei and scaramouche look so similar, and also why scaramouche might’ve left inazuma.
what if.. something happened between the two in inazuma that caused scaramouche to leave and join the fatui, an organization that is actively against the archons. and what if, just like the other harbingers, he was tasked to retrieve an archons gnosis; specifically raidens. but he has his own reasons and motives for doing so
2. whatever this tweet is
a tweet by genshin intel that is likely related to kazuhas lore. im guessing its told in his perspective but ill get more on that later.
“By the time I made it to the Tenshukaku, however, the duel had come to an end.”
the tenshukaku is on the highest point in inazuma, and its described as “the residence of the most exalted one in all of inazuma”, so, the shogun. taking into account that this “duel” takes place in raiden shoguns residence, im going to assume this duel is between her and someone else.
that someone else could have very well been scaramouche. who else would believe theyre strong enough to duel an archon if not someone directly related to her and perhaps possessing equal power? the duel coming to an end, scaramouche leaving inazuma, raiden shogun continuing her reign, and scaramouche joining the fatui… maybe the gnosis was what he was after from the beginning? “the wish of his life”? dueling her for the spot of the shogun and/or the electro archon? maybe he was angry she was chosen (for either of the positions) instead of him. and now he plans on taking her gnosis, either for himself or to just rid her of that power.
im not sure if theyre siblings exactly, but i really think theyre connected somehow. this explains a really interesting theory about the two.
as for “Musou no Ittou”, i believe this translates to “unrivaled/unmatched sword”, and raiden mei wields a sword so its not too much of a stretch to assume raiden shogun does as well. and that this line is referring to the shogun.
how does it make sense for this to be kazuhas perspective?
kazuhas character description describes him as a rōnin, a samurai who no longer has a master. hes also described as “a gentle and carefree soul whos heart hides a great many burdens”. the burden of not being able to save his master..? what other great burden would a rōnin carry so deep in his heart?
what if scaramouche, during his time in inazuma, had his own samurai (not that unlikely considering he possibly had a connection to raiden shogun), and that samurai was kazuha? scaramouche challenging raiden shogun to a duel, kazuha arriving too late to save him.. thus having many regrets and burdens.
his death voice line is literally “so…many…regrets…” what the hell kazuha
it definitely makes sense for that duel to be between kazuhas master and raiden shogun, what else would he be talking about in such way? that it “had been the wish of his life”? who else would a samurai have known so well if not his own master? and why else would he be trying to make it to the tenshukaku? if you think about it he wouldn’t be allowed to randomly arrive at the tenshukaku if he was just somebody.
this ones taken from the description of one of the pale flame artifacts, specifically the surpassing cup. each of the pale flame artifacts is based on one of the fatui harbingers, and i do think this one is based on scaramouche. read this if youre confused on that though
it makes sense considering the theory i linked earlier, this one, and the same idea that scaramouche was “divinely created” (as baal was) and “cast aside like worthless dross”.
“due to an error that cannot be known, he roused himself from his slumber” if you remember the unreconciled stars event, npcs were put into a deep slumber that they couldnt wake up from. scaramouche, however, willingly put himself into that slumber and was somehow able to rouse himself from it on his own will. as mona says and as the pale flame goblet says, im 100% sure this man possesses some kind of unknown power.
“began to wander the mortal realm” when we meet scara in the unreconciled stars event, he introduces himself as a “vagrant from inazuma”, which is just a person who wanders from place to place.
him believing hes “a human who surpasses all others” fits into his character, and would also explain why he would challenge the electro archon herself to a duel.
a recent leak stated that kazuha had been exiled from inazuma for quite some time and he’s currently “on the run” from the shogunate,, which ties back to the theory that his master might’ve been against her and since he remained loyal to his master, kazuha was exiled along with him for supporting his plans OR even though his master had left inazuma and that threat was eliminated, raiden still felt the need to exile kazuha as he was still dangerous to her. i wonder why…?
kazuhas voicelines are really centered around generally higher up people (ayaka, kujo sara, raiden), so i wonder if he was once close with them. it would really only make sense if he was a higher up himself, and i believe that could be possible if he worked under scaramouche
