Dr. Wells presenting at the National Strength and Conditioning Association Florida Clinic. A great turn out of almost 200 people to learn more about exercise and orthopedic issues.
This Forbes article only touches on the tip of the iceberg for what is wrong with CrossFit. Pick up my book today and learn more! http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0990435822/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1442205315&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=double+crossed+CrossFit
In response to your article: 1.) Yes, there is a problem in the strength and conditioning and training world. Too many uneducated trainers that think they know how to lift and exercise. They do injure clients, they do delay care, and they need to be regulated. A consumer should be able to levy complaints against a trainer and those complaints stick. As it stands now, if you complain to my certifying body I will just dump that certificate and get one of the other 180 "training" certificates. I'll change my site, social media, etc...how is that fair to future clients? That's a problem. 2. Licensing is the highest form of control of a profession by a regulating body. While some site it does not increase safety, I'd argue to look at the requirements for PTs and MDs focused on HIV education. Forcing those professionals, through re-licensing requirements, to take HIV education courses has improved care and prevents the spread of the virus. Also, see my #1 comment about safety and a consumer being able to lobby a complaint. 3. If the penalties are vague then make them more clear and absolute. No brainer...Also, there is a difference in group ex and personal training. Licensing standards can be made at different levels. While NV couldn't solve it others could if they used a tiered approach. 4. Some certifying bodies would be biased in this process. Look at MD and PT education - the universities have the market. Do you see small business owners screaming that it's unfair? No, look at Stanley Paris who started his own "University" in order to teach PTs. Lastly, we is the exercise industry so scared about a certifying body "checking their work?" 5. A standard and scope of practice is needed. If we are to call ourselves exercise professionals, health care providers, and specialist we need a scope and standard. While this scope and standard can be wide (look at PT which covers pediatric, ICU, sport, and neuro patients) it is possible to set. Buy my book and read more!

Tone up and prevent injuries with these easy exercises designed for gaining strength and helping you stay fit.
A great interview with Dr. Stuart McGill, an expert on the spine, relating to CrossFit. He has several issues with CrossFit, from programming to excessive risk. He also finds an interesting lack of carry over or transference of skill from high intensity and high reps training (eg CrossFit) to firefighters, when compared with those trained with a coach stopping them during training because of issues with form. Definitely a must read!
This is a great article with insights from Dr squat himself. It clearly states that CrossFit does not make sense. While it is great exercise and activity, you are essentially working against yourself by training and so many various and unplanned ways. These are similar, if not identical, issues that I have addressed in my book Double-Crossed: A Review of the most Extreme Exercise (CrossFit).
Dr. Wells, owner of Naples Personal Training and author of Double-Crossed: A review of the most extreme exercise program, featured in this national article on unhealthy foods. Enjoy to your health!
New Zealand may be trying to extort you Glassman, but you have sued or had legal action against practicality everyone that has questioned you and your program (including me with my book's first edition being shut down by your lawyers). Perhaps if you read my last chapter on how you can change CrossFit to be a professional organization that performs research (not reliant on other organization's professionals, such as NSCA members), has a qualified benchmark for educational compentcy (eg an associates or bachelor's degree; yes, ALL trainers should have this regulation), and can communicate/interact with other exercise professionals in a scientific and structured manner. Buy my book Greg....it's all there. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OU0QA32

If you get a chance go over to CrossFit's Facebook page and check out how CrossFit headquarters offended nearly their entire followers. Hilarious on many levels! Afterwards buy my book amd laugh even more.
