for everyone freaking out about the recent AI discord survey being a phishing scam: there is currently ZERO concrete evidence of this being true, only people saying that they 'heard about' other people getting hacked, with no primary sources. zero posts to the subreddit about it, which i imagine there would be if this was actually happening. Just rumors circulating around with little actual proof

if i'm wrong, please do let me know! but i've yet to see anything that actually makes this look like a scam other than people claiming they've heard it on the grapevine. there weren't even any questions asking for identifying info in the survey. If anything the rumour was probably started by discord trying to cover their ass after the overwhelmingly anti-ai responses to the survey lol

Internet Can Be Weird

I had difficulty logging into R20 over the past few days, asked for help from the site's support team, then found out I can get in just fine because... Reasons? Don't know.

my brain: your elves may have long life spans but because of the wars and battles that happen most of them die before they reach 1000 years old. which gives the impression that their lifespan isn't much as expected. which means that there's only, let's say 100 elves in a room, only 30 of them will live long enough to be 800+ years old. :))

A setting I'm writing for my friends includes the fact that one of the largest landmasses used to be dominated by an elven empire. The fact that it extended into territories owned by several different nations in the "modern day" of the setting implies that they conquered various peoples and fought a number of foes and threats.

There's that, and the fact that the empire eventually... Fell. It declined, collapsed, elves died. The elves of the-now are far younger and different than the elves of the-then, and ghosts with pointed ears still wander some of the ruins.

An elf who does not sequester themself away in a position of power or an important niche role, or become isolated like the forest elves and the druidic circles, risks being killed in a future battle or calamity.

That's a hard thing! Not just for the long-lived elves, but also for the other creatures, the various spirits and strange things that have befriended or regularly seen elves throughout their lifespans. Imagine an elemental or a fishfolk elder witnessing the changing of the ages, knowing that so many of their friends went to war or disappeared and will never again return to the brook and creek or the shrine and wood where they once dwelt.
