Reblogging this again bc people in the notes are asking a lot of "Am I included? Am I disabled if I have x?" and I just wanted to add the flag here to show people who the pride month is for.

This is the new flag, the old one was more vivid and in a z shape, but it's been made more neutral to be inclusive of people with seizures or sensory issues.

Each stripe represents a different aspect of disability:

Red: Physical disabilities

Yellow: Cognitive & intellectual disabilities

White: (And this is the key one I think) Invisible AND undiagnosed disabilities

Blue: Mental illnesses

Green: Sensory disabilities

If you're autistic or have ADHD? this is your pride month. If you have a mental illness, it's your pride month. If you're hard of hearing, this is your pride month. My mom likes to tell me about how when I was a little kid riding public transport with her I'd always smile and giggle and chat with weird old ladies who smelled like cat pee and homeless folks and strangers dressed in bizarre outfits but any time a tidy and respectable businessman in a suit and tie waved at me I'd immediately clam up, and she takes a great deal of pride in my supposed inherentability to clock personalities but the truth is I do vaguely remember those bus rides, and it was never about the clothes or the hair or the smell, but more because everyone "strange" asked interesting questions and listened to what I had to say and seemed to think about what I said while the neat and tidy and rigid folks only ever acted like they were going through the motions, which was boring as hell and also pretty annoying

1. How sheltered was your OC from the idea of LGBTQ+ relationships when they were younger? How has it impacted their relationship with themselves?

Tbh Espa doesn't have a good understanding of queer people, but it's not nothing. They are somewhat aware of homo-/bi-/pansexuality etc (side eyes mr juste) (side eyes mr juste's probably gay as fuck friends if were being honest) and they have gathered enough of a pattern to know different people might have different... "preferences". But they feel sort of removed from it. Espa is aroace and if you asked thrm about their apparent lack of interest in the matter they'd tell you it's because they are a weapon and don't need to feel those things. They probably know some fellow weapons who get romantically/sexually involved and attribute it to poor self-restraint/discipline. But fine she won't snitch.

Nobody told it aromanticism exists but it can probably infer that it does. It only makes sense, right? Not like it concerns her, though.

Transness wise u_u I actually think there are some trans and nonbinary handlers every so often AND that's how it found out people who use they/them exist. Once a more "progressive" handler with pronouns started calling her "they" at first when they weren't sure of her gender and it felt really nice. It probably toyed with the idea for a bit before becoming attached. But Espa is mostly ignorant! It is going to be confronted with the concept of transness and transition and nonbinaryhood further along the story with the introductions of Guy and Sethie but as of now they are just vaguely aware that its a thing and don't actually put any thought into it. You may realize that in their pov they are very quick to assign gender to strangers solely based on physical characteristics like voice and face and such. It is a footnote on their knowledge but not a significant part of their worldview.

28. Is your OC more likely to want a QPR or a romantic relationship?

None of the two! If someone was cruel enough it wouldn't be hard to pressure it into one but Espa is not wired for that kind of thing.

This is a cranberry bog (unflooded) it’s how cranberries grow. Once they’re ripe, the blog is flooded and the cranberries harvested.

Basically by using big floaty things to round them all up and then scooping them out of the water.

oh here is a fun lil perspective on cranberry harvesting i never heard about anywhere else. the guy who owns the restaurant right down the road from the farm, who fries our chickens sometimes, is from Boston, with the strongest Boston accent ever, and in a former life before he started slinging reasonably priced barbeque and occasional organic chicken, he was a cranberry farmer.

His farm was on the leading edge of kinda using organic/sustainable pest control methods, and one of the things that they did to keep insect damage down was that they encouraged wolf spiders to live in the cranberry field, to eat the bugs. 

This was all fine and good until they flooded the bog. Now, you don’t just like flood the bog and then go around it in a boat or whatever. No, you use hip waders to get in there and put the big floaty things where they go and get all the berries and such.

Well when you’re in the bog in hip waders, that makes you the tallest thing. Wolf spiders can swim a bit, but they don’t like it, so they’re, quite understandably, looking to climb out of the water onto a tall thing.

So yeah the first interview question he always asked potential cranberry bog harvester hires was “are you cool with spiders?”

“You’d be amazed,” he said to us, shaking his head a little, “how many guys would just straight lie. Like, you think I’m asking you that question to be cute? Nah man you’re gonna have like a hundred wolf spiders trying to climb your eyebrows, you gotta be chill, those wolf spiders are fellow employees. You really gotta be chill with spiders if you’re gonna work a cranberry harvest.”

Kinda related but I feel the same way with people being annoyed at someone asking "are you hurt/are you all right?" after tripping or having an accident or something. Especially if they respond with a sarcastic "Ghee, what do you think?!" Like damn bitch I dunno, I wad just using a standard-phrase to inquire about wether or not you are in urgent need of help, tell me if I need to call the hospital or just get a band aid. What else am I suppose to do in that situation, run up to you and yell "Status report"?!
