think⌠many.. non wheelchair users, even some of those who say support us, ultimately see wheelchair user using wheelchair as. lazy.
see us have problems with wheelchair n somewhere still feel some level of. that it our fault. that we sign up for it by (âchooseâ) be wheelchair user. that it wouldnât bother us as much if only we got out of it time to time n idk, walk, but alas we not âwantâ to.
see us have problem n symptoms, that may or often may even not have anything do with use wheelchair, instead often be whole separate reason illness disorder disability, or is symptom of same thing that put us in wheelchair n. so quick decide it must be because wheelchair use. it because use wheelchair too much, with implied âmore than you need.â that it all be solve if we use it less, walk more, exercise more, stand more, use standing frame more, do PT more. there always be ways we somehow can do more, n if we not do those âmoreâ things, we deserve these things that happen to us.
that on some level we deserve it because we use wheelchair too much.
many would pretend there divide between âjust enoughâ n âtoo muchâ but if you do start use wheelchair less, that goal post suddenly be move farther, so really, âtoo muchâ often mean use it at all.
but alas, we not âwant toâ (use it less).
nevermind that, if we even can use wheelchair less (some of us physically canât, because it literally means bedbound until die of pressure sore), it means get even more problems (n then there be whole other reason we deserve those n whole other list of things we do too much n do too little so not get complain for). nevermind that, use wheelchair be most imperfectly perfect best solution we got, n sometimes that come with drawbacks, like all things.
so we not get to complain. we not even get to have those symptoms.
part time, full time. ambulatory, non-ambulatory. you not get escape this so long you wheelchair user.
why you using wheelchair anyway? that tragically lazy. just walk.
