introducing a new poll blog
this is a side blog so I can't follow back but the idea here is that each poll asks about a different name with the following options
I know at least one real person with that name
I know of at least one real person with that name
I know of at least one fictional person with that name
I don't know (of) anyone with that name but I've heard it before
I've never heard that name before
That's MY name
some further rules and details
As far as what it means for a name to belong to somebody, that's up to you if you're going based on the name you know them by vs their legal name in cases where it differs.
for the time being they need to be written in some variant of the Latin alphabet (accent marks and umlauts and þ and such are fine) as that is the type of keyboard I have access to; transliterations are acceptable but make clear that it is such in your submission
I won't be accepting what I believe to be obvious troll names such as La-a, Orangello or Lemonjello.
I won't repost identical names but spelling variants and nicknames will be counted as separate names
It's optional to include meaning, origin and pronunciation in your submission. If you do I'll include it in the poll title but I won't go out of my way to find this information if you don't include it
I'll generally assume that you submitted the name as you intended (ie; with the specific spelling you meant to use) if you're trying to submit a name with letters you are unable to write screenshot an instance of the name with the intended spelling (ie; if you can't type "ö" and want to submit the name Björn)
And finally (for now at least) suggestions may be sent via ask box anytime that it is open ;
