LIBRARY UPDATE

Now that we’re back to fill you in on all things happening at Delta Public Library, we feel we should just do a quick update of everything that’s changed.

We don’t get to have our regular meetings anymore (which is a major bummer, but oh well), however, the teen area is AWESOME now!

Hannah spent a lot of hours doing a full makeover in our area. We have a green wall with chalkboards, a ginormous bulletin board, AND FAIRY LIGHTS. It’s lit....literally.

Since there are no in-person programs anymore, Hannah and her fellow teen coordinator, Audry, from Paonia came up with some really fun take-home craft kits that can be picked up at the library when we come visit. Each month there is a new kit available!

And stay tuned! Hannah says she’s been working on some other ideas for programs!

COVID messed up our blogging game

Yes, yes we are aware that most people became way more active on social media because of the pandemic, but the thing is...we aren’t most people. So. Hello again. We’re sorry we stopped posting and we’re coming back with a vengeance! Buckle up, nerds.

COVID-19 UPDATE

Hi guys! It’s Hannah here! I’m doing a brief takeover of the blog to let you know that ALL Delta County Libraries programs are CANCELLED from March 17-April 5. This means our movie night on March 27 is no longer going to happen and Council of Teens will also be cancelled. I will try update you guys as I receive more information from the manager and administration.

The library will still be open! We are not closing our doors yet, so you can still come in and stock up on reading material.

Fun Friday in April

Next month’s Fun Friday is going to be.....[drum roll please]........a slam poetry open-mic night! We’ll spend the first part of the program learning about how to write slam poetry, and writing our own poems. At the end of the program, we can share what we wrote! Coffee and donuts will be provided as creative fuel!

Delta, We Have a Problem

We promise it’s not a huge one, but it is a rather troubling one. It’s about the teen area.

The thing is we’re getting a makeover in the teen area and we need to pick a color. Many people have chimed in with what they thought, but we can’t help feeling that there are others who have not had a chance to vote.

So here’s how this is going to go down:

If you think we should paint the teen area blue, Comment “Blue”.

If you think we should paint it yellow, Comment “Yellow”.

Simple enough, right?

Okay, Serious Question

Alright, you caught us. It’s not that serious, but it is very important...to us.

We have recently discovered that Suzanne Collins will be releasing a prequel to The Hunger Games on May 19. What we need to know is: Should we do a book release party or nah?

Please note: The library is closed on the actual release day, so if we do celebrate the release of the book, we will actually be celebrating the day after the book is released.

An Introduction

You have no idea how much we wanted to post a meme first, but because we’re trying to be semi professional, we will first introduce who and what we are.

If you’ve made it to this glorious blog of ours, you have found a place where the teens of Delta, Colorado share the adventures they have at the Delta Public Library. This blog is run by the Council of Teens, who help plan programs, give advice on books to purchase and frequently get the teen librarian off track when she is desperately trying to be somewhat professional. The Council of Teens welcomes all who find our blog to contribute by sending in ideas for programs as well as suggestions for books to purchase for the library collection. (We also promise to be less stuffy and formal sounding in future posts).

So without further ado, welcome to the Council of Teens!
