“Well excuse me for not haveing a destination in mind when I was thrown through the portal, all I know is the time period.” She sniped back. She reached out to him, mentally, looking for something to hook to,and smiled when it came so easily. “I just found this place and wanted to meet whoever was behind this.” She motioned to the machines around her. “Some of this is well beyond this era’s technology.” She gave him the irresistible smile. “I was hoping maybe they would be smart enough to help me find a way home? I can reward them with anything they want.” She leaned against a nearby chair. “Power, money’“ Her eyes settled on a picture of a younger version of the person (turtle?) before her and a pretty red-head. “Women? Perhaps one particular one?”

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you” She purred as silvery octagonal scales appeared on her left temple, moving down her neck under the collar of her kimono and appearing on her wrist and hand, turning her nails in needle-like claws. “Now, I’m not from around here and need to find a way home. Looks like I could use some stuff from here to help build a portal.” She hummed, looking around the lab, strutting in like she owned it. “Of course I could always take over this world too…hmmm..Empress Rain, Leader of Two worlds….I like that…”

There is a bigger TV, the bed is better for sitting.. Leonardo was kind of nervous, these words implied something else but.. Well, it’s been long and he wanted to be with her. He’s missed her.

“You mean I’m too heavy for your couch?” He couldn’t resist in joking anyway, he got up and picked up the rest plates from the table, he helped her and let her guide the way. It was rather comical how he was letting himself being dragged by her.. Yes her, dragging a turtle that weighs like two or three times her own weight perhaps.

“You could have been more subtle about that, Rain… Really.” He joked some more, though his joke also implied the subtlety of her insinuations of joining him to the bedroom, nothing bad intended really, he mostly joked to ease his nervousness.

“Hush you.” Rain scolded when Leo joked about his weight. She was pleased that he allowed her to pull him to the room with little resistance, though.

“And what of it?” She turned to look at him. “If you don’t feel comfortable there, we can stay in the living room. I don’t want to force you into anything.” She paused, dropping his hand and rubbing her arms out of nervous habit. “I just would like you to know that if -or when- you’re ready, I am.” She paused, taking a deep breath to calm her nerves.

“I love you, Leo, and I want to be with you.” Her voice was firm and confident as she spoke, her eyes looking straight into his one, hope to convey that she truly meant what she said. “And if that means I have to fight off armies of ninjas to do so, well, I need to get back into training.”

Why aren't you mad at Leo for leaving you?

I know he lives a dangerous life. He has people that want him and his brothers dead. If he needs to lay low for a while, it’s okay.

Am I a little upset at him taking off without telling me? A little, but he was also protecting me. The Foot might have gone after me or April if we had known where they were. I’m kinda surprised they didn’t try to use us to draw the guys out to be truthful, but no one said they where smart villains.

As weird as it is, I’m kind of glad he did it. During the year he spent fighting, my deceased husband had a habit of running into situations without thinking of the consequences, and it got me kidnapped/injured/threatened on more than one occasion. It’s nice to have a guy think about my safety like that.

Leonardo smiled, he was amused at her little story about taking cooking classes. When she asked him to stay he went serious but nodded in agreement because who wouldn’t want to catch up?

It’s been several months and he really missed Rain. Not like he spent too many nights with her before, it took a while to get there but these months spent away from her he wished it would have been different.

“Sure, I could.. I will stay tonight.” He said and looked into her eyes with a bit of intensity. He placed his hand on hers and brushed the callous part of his thumb against her soft skin. “I’d like that too.”

Rain smiled, enjoying the feel of Leo’s hand on her own.

The rest of the meal went with casual conversation, and when Rain had placed the dishes in the washer, she pulled Leo into her bedroom.

“The bigger TV is in here.” She explained,knowing her would hesitate. “Plus the bed is better for us to sit together.“

Of course she did hold onto hope that maybe- just maybe- their relationship would go farther tonight. She missed him so much over the past few months, and the physical need for him to be near her at least was almost unbearable now that he was within her touch.

Leonardo wondered why Rain didn’t ask for further explanations, she accepted what he said and that was it.. He nodded and decided to eat something. To be honest, he wasn’t that hungry but he wouldn’t reject Rain’s invitation. “Oh.. I see.” He placed some food in his plate.

“And I was going to ask.” He smirked. “I mean, your cooking skills have really improved since I left?” He teased and helped her with her plate as well. “I kid.. I’m no better myself. Mikey is the cooker of the family.” He added, just for the sake of talking.

Rain laughed.

“Not so much learned to cook, but learned how to work a slow cooker.” She said, smiling. “I tried to take classes, but it didn’t go well. The instructor politely pointed me to the deli I got this from and refunded me. Was completely shocked over how bad I was.” She was quiet for a bit, taking a few bites. “Leo? Could you….could you stay tonight? I don’t have shift tomorrow, and I want to catch up.”

So much has happened in these months, all good things.. Leonardo was glad she was prospering and adapting. He smiled while listening her telling about her accomplishments then he went serious and looked away for a moment. “Well.. It is not like I had a choice.” He began to say.

“Your life was threatened,” he finally confessed. “I had to leave and stop them, but I couldn’t risk to be seen by you.” He looked into her eyes now. “When everything was over, time had passed.. So many months.. I thought in letting you be, but I just couldn’t. I had to see you again.”

Rain could see where he was coming from. Hell, as much as she loved Domon, she wasn’t blind to his faults and she had to take off her shoes to count how many times something he did put her in danger. It felt strangely nice to be on the opposite end of the spectrum, even if it did upset her she wasn’t even asked her opinion.

“I understand.” She said smiling. “Thank you for that.” She nodded to his plate. “Go ahead, I didn’t actually cook it. There’s a market down the block that sells meals that you just toss in a slow cooker.”

Leonardo smiled back, he recognized that smile and he’s missed it too, he’s missed those eyes and that mouth.. He doesn’t regret coming back. Maybe later, he still needed to talk about the reasons of why he had to leave her for so many months.

“That sounds like a good plan.” He said and followed her into the kitchen, “let me help you with that.” He got the plates from her hands and looked around. “Yes, it seems rather nice and if it’s more private then that’s better, isn’t it?” He asked, privacy is always important.

And maybe privacy is what she needed at the moment, no one should know about him visiting her anyway.

“I like the privacy of the place, but it’s so quiet. Maybe we can have a movie night with your brothers on day next week.” She said, sitting down, and took a sip of her drink. “But I’ve been doing good. I got a promotion at the hospital, I’m head of the ER staff now. One reason why I decided to get the condo. Made an attempt at dating, but I just couldn’t find anyone that gave me the same feeling as you do.” She looked over the table at him. “I missed you so much Leo.” There was a brief pause. “Please tell me you’re not going to leave without me next time.”
