MAGA are too unserious to figure out any of this. They will hear 'Soros' or 'Obama cell phone' and their limited minds are wiped.
PROJECT HAIL MARY (2026) + draft screenplay snippets
honestly i think the reason why it’s so common for kids to have the “it’s not a phase, mom” argument in their adolescence is less because they genuinely plan for their current state of being to remain utterly unchanged forever and more because they’re tired of having their interests/self expression/beliefs/etc dismissed as foolish due to being probably temporary
i know that when i was that age i certainly wasn’t thinking about whether or not i’d be into whatever shit i was into then when i was 80, all i knew was that i was sick of feeling like the adults in my life were just rolling their eyes and waiting out everything that was important to me at that moment
I laughed so fucking hard at this
Thank you, RDJ, for my life motto: “Listen, smile, agree, and then do whatever the fuck you were gonna do anyways.”
in happier pride news i actually found this deeply heartwarming
that's solidarity baybeeee
Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”
Pierre Bourdieu once argued that the question of whether something is art isn't answered by the artist's intention or even the object itself

wrong. ballroom gloves are the thigh highs of hands. fingerless gloves are the booty shorts of hands.
You're Not Alone, and You're Not Crazy https://robertreich.substack.com/p/youre-not-alone-and-youre-not-crazy
Friends,
Someone I didn’t know approached me early this morning on my way to breakfast. He looked about 60 years old, with dark hair graying at the temples. He was dressed in a tie and jacket.
He asked me if I was Robert Reich. I admitted to it.
“Well, I just want to say …” he began, but nothing more came out of his mouth. “I just want to say …” he started again. Then silence.
“I’m sorry,” I said with as friendly a smile as I could muster at that hour of the morning, “but I’m meeting someone for breakfast.”
His eyes welled up.
“Oh, I didn’t mean to be rude!” I said, suddenly feeling dreadful. “I apologize. I just …”
“No, no, no,” he said, shaking his head and wiping his eyes. “It’s just that I’ve been feeling, well, so lonely in all this …”
“I understand,” I said.
“You see, I-I’m from the Central Valley,” he continued. “My wife and my brother are Trumpers, and a lot of my neighbors. You have no idea ….” His eyes welled up again.
“I really do get it. I hear it all the time.”
“They tell me stuff that’s just … well, not true.”
“It’s like they’re in a different world,” I said.
“Yes! Exactly!” he became more animated. “I mean, sometimes I don’t know if they’re crazy or I’m crazy.”
“Well, I don’t know you, so I can’t say for certain,” I said with a smile, “but I very much doubt you’re the crazy one.”
“So when I saw you … well,” his voice grew quieter. “You make sense.”
“I try to,” I said, starting to feel embarrassed. I glanced at my watch. “Look, I really …”
“Oh, I don’t want to hold you up!” he said. “It’s just that ….”
“Look, there are millions of people like you,” I said. “Some live in MAGA parts of the country. They often feel lonely, and sometimes they wonder if they’re crazy. But let me assure you .…”
“No need!” he said, shaking his head. “You go on to your breakfast! I’ve taken enough of your time.”
“I just want to tell you most Americans now feel exactly as you do. Even if they didn’t a year and a half ago, they do now. They’re now seeing the results of this despicable regime.”
“Thank you,” he said.
“Good luck!” We shook hands. He turned away, walking quickly in the other direction. I ran to breakfast.
I’ve had a lot of brief discussions like this with people who feel isolated and sometimes unsure of themselves.
In my experience, the vast majority of Americans are decent people. But like the man I briefly spoke with this morning, they can sometimes feel alone and confused.
Our job — yours and mine — is to reassure them that they’re not alone and they’re not crazy, that America has been taken over by a man and a regime that are spewing blatant lies, and those lies are being amplified on social media and occasionally on mainstream media.
Too many people don’t understand this. They feel as if they’re the only ones feeling disconnected and powerless. But they’re not powerless. In fact, if each of them votes in November, their votes will force a great change in America. Even greater in 2028.
I think it also important to reassure each other that these terrible times will end. More Americans are seeing through the lies as well as the cruelty and corruption. They’re deciding they want this daymare to end, peacefully, and are committed to rebuilding and rectifying the nation.

This is one of the most powerful images I have ever seen, and I will reblog it every single time because every single time it brings tears to my eyes.
I case anyone wondered; 20 years ago I planted two rows of seedling loblolly pine trees from front to back on my lot. They came from the forestry commission. About three years ago those trees on the north east corner started to die. This is from pine decline, which is a combination of drought, extreme heat for weeks, then fungus and insect attack on the stressed trees. It's been happening all over the state and there is no cure.
The reasons I burn the trees in a burn pile, as I burn all yard trimmings, are, the same amount of carbon is released from burning the logs as it would be if they were left to decompose, just at a quicker rate. It's the same amount they took in over their lifetime. Chipping the logs for mulch is a long arduous process requiring a wood splitter, (or hand splitting for days, which I can no longer do.) and a wood chipper/ both of these tools burn gasoline adding to the amount of carbon released into the air. and you have to rent them and I don't have the money for that. Wood chips do not suppress weeds here. In all the years I've used it it never made a dent on the amount of weeds anywhere. They do pull nitrogen form the soil as they break down, and worse the carpenter ants and fire ants love to build nests in them. Leaving the logs in a pile to decompose creates a home for more fire ants, carpenter ants termites and pine beetles to live and breed and spread. Also a place for poison ivy, invasive red vine, Virginia creeper, Japanese privit, and green briar to grow and spread out into my yard. There is no yard waste pick up and I don't own a truck. Nor would I ask any of my neighbors to drag this stuff to the local dump and end up with a flat tire, because yard waste goes at the very back, over all the shattered glass and torn pieces of metal.
I don't want to burn loblolly pine in my fire place, as it creates a lot of creosote, ash, and very little heat. And this stuff is already infested with bugs which I don't want in my house. Plus that fire place is an ornamental POS which is better at pulling heat from the room and sending it up the chimney then is heating anything.

I finally caught my Gold Neons and Threadfin Rainbows shoaling together!! They only do this sometimes, usually right before their dinnertime, and it's really cute because it's kind of unusual for two species to shoal together, especially ones that are such different colors and sizes <3
