Forgive me, Father, for I have complicated my life by reading books.
I once saw a vintage poster on Pinterest years ago where a blonde woman was sitting on the edge of a crescent moon. I wanted to sit there too, and thought it was such a poetic, unattainable dream. Just the other day, I was telling my friends that astronauts cannot land on a crescent moon, and that’s just sad. Because the moon appears in phases only to us on Earth, it doesn’t actually disappear. Even though it’s sad, it’s poetic nonetheless. While I see a crescent moon from Earth, someone out there could be landing on that same moon, even though it’s a full sphere up there. And I think that’s beautiful.
I've been in love with Ryan Gosling since I was 14, but I still do not like his face on the book cover of Project Hail Mary.
People who don't stamp on fallen flowers while walking are my favourite kind of people. 🌼
When Ethan Hawke very casually said at the Oscars, “The one who's in love always wins. It doesn't matter if you get your heart broken. You're living. When you're feeling, you're alive. You know the sun doesn't care whether the grass appreciates its rays, right? It just keeps on shining, that's you.” It is so beautiful and it was unscripted and bro just said that on the spot and I think I might just cry because of it.
The world is heartbreaking everyday and the world is beautiful everyday. We need to learn to pay attention to both.
I don’t know what you think, but food feels like the main plot of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. I just love how all the characters revolve around it. They’re always cooking for each other, feeding one another, or buying meals for each other. Someone cooks for someone when they’re tired, brings food when they didn’t ask, leaves food outside their house when they shut off from the world, or insists they sit and eat even when they feel like being alone. I declare that there's no greater love language than feeding each other.
Also, I think moving to a small seashore town could fix all my problems.
Nobody is talking about Vincent van Gogh because of a particular scene in Project Hail Mary, and that's just so sad.
Now that I think about it, films have been my first love, followed by music, and reading comes last. For me, watching films is equivalent to praying to God, and here are a few blasphemies, according to me:
1. Do not eat crunchy snacks while the movie plays. Seriously, how on earth are you not annoyed by that constant noise you create because of chewing? You disturb others, you disturb yourself, and it’s an insult to the film itself.
2. Stop watching movies on your phones or laptops. The entire film crew did not work for months, sometimes years, for you to experience it on a tiny screen that fits in your palm or sits on your lap. Buy or rent Blu-rays like the old days and watch them on your TV, or go somewhere they’re being screened.
3. Do not ask where or how to watch a film. If you’re passionate enough, figure it out.
4. Most importantly, stop clicking pictures of the movie screen inside a cinema hall. Can’t you live in the moment for once, without using that damn camera? If you want to capture the memory, there’s always a film poster outside.
I love the fact that there's always food to look forward to.
You had a bad morning, you can always make it better by having a good lunch.
You're having a bad afternoon, go for an evening coffee or buy yourself a little dessert.
You've had a bad day, there's always good dinner to enjoy to wind up your day.
And if you feel hopeless in the middle of the night, THERE'S ALWAYS A GOOD MORNING BREAKFAST TO WAKE UP TOO.
I’m not even surprised that the one month dedicated to women, when people intentionally try to learn about women, is being overshadowed by MEN playing WAR. Because what do you mean hardly any media is talking about it?
Meanwhile, capitalists will profit out of this too. Discounts on everything cause WoMeN’s MoNtH.
Sir, that is not what we want?
Can everyone shut up about Homer and talk about Sappho, please?
If you're going to use punctuation marks while texting, for the love of God don't add space. Or just stick to your blasphemous way of typing.
The other day i was thinking abt tsh getting a movie adaptation and had the idea that it would have to be actually two movies that end and start with Bunny being pushed.
The first one is your typical DA movie with maybe even hints of magical realism to further illustrate how unreliable Richard is as a narrator. Then the push happens and it's still pretty, but the color kinda drains in the last slowed shot of Bunny falling.
The second movie picks up right after that with the push scene, but now it's realistic. No color filters. Barely any makeup on the actors and all that. No fluent speaking/perfect accents of different languages. Just raw footage with maybe even some messed up lines.
Please, normalise having a crush on Zohran Mamdani.
Nothing beats Meg Ryan and Nora Ephron collaboration. Fight me on that.
I wish there was an alternate universe wherein I could make Avery Blue listen to Mitski’s First Love/Late Spring.
