Kakuriyo bed and breakfast for spirits

Okay so its been a while since I made posts but I watched Kakuriyo bed and breakfast for spirits and wanted to talk about it. spoilers maybe but tbh it might just be a rant but you have been warned

Okay first off I recently finished watching both seasons last week and yes I loved it so so much, expecially season 1 like that was peak fiction. I just loved how both platonic and romantic love were given weight and it was absolutely delightful watching Aoi bond with everyone. It was just the best kind of found family and I adored it because most of the cahracters are very very well fleshed out and I loved seeing Aoi just bond with everyone. In addition to the character I also really loved the side stories and the format of season 1. 26 episodes were simply perfect as it neatly tied up all arcs which unfortunately couldnt be observed in season 2 which frankly was disappointing but lets get to that later, I want to start with something positive.

For a start this is particularly only about season 1 because that was peak fiction but I might talk about season 2, not sure though. Anyway lets get onto it. I really like Kakuriyo bed and breakfast because of the importance it places on found family which is a trope I've always loved but only found family wouldn't have prompted me to typically watch the show so the romance was also crucial and I genuinely think both are very well done. Additionally I loved that the romance wasn't the whole story as we saw her cook and run her bed and breakfast so once again it wasn't just male centred which is another thing I absolutely love. Then theres also the fact that romantic and platonic love is given the same weight which I always think is what makes a show great because that is how I see both loved. Romantic love is not greater than platonic love or family love and vice versa and so to see it treated that way throughout the show made me really happy as can be seen in what they did with Ginji and Ranmaru or Hatori and his dad. The different plotlines were also very intersting and I loved the way Aoi's grandfather shows up everywhere, it has that interconnectedness that I love in shows and once again drives home the point that people aren't forgotten when they're gone and are remembered through stories and the people who knew them which I find to be a very romantic thought. Now onto season 2.

Season 2 was wasted not because the format changed, no it didn't at all but simply because they cut the series off at just twelve episodes leaving a very underwhelming ending for a plotline we hoped would resolve in this season i.e the plotline of Odanna being imprisoned and hoenstly if I'd just watched season 2 I wouldn't have been encouraged to watch season 3 because the cliffhanger wasn't even that interesting and frankly the only reason I will still watch season 3 is because season 1 was good enough to make me give it a chance if they make it but overall their decision to cut it at 12 episodes was very disappointing.
