i thought I'd never ever pass before i started transitioning. my own mom told me I'd be a very ugly woman if i did as a way to try to stop me.

2 years later and doctors keep apologizing and switching tracks because when i say i take E they're like "for menopause? you're so young" and i have to go "no,, im trans"

i pass so well as cis and its so joyful and it makes me feel like im every day proving everyone wrong who didn't want me to transition because they told me I'd never pass or be taken seriously. being trans rules and if you wanna transition, DO IT! Whatever people tell you before you transition is conjecture based on people being mean, your truth will end up much different and I'm living proof!

the "empathy fatigue" stuff is also very revealing because when you examine health professionals' self-reporting on the matter there is a specific type of person they describe losing empathy for- unsurprisingly, it's people with particularly chronic health issues and disability, drug users, people who "refuse to take care of themselves" and especially anyone with a health condition perceived to be "their own fault". very often what they describe as "empathy fatigue" is actually just the mask slipping on the seething contempt they already held
