Hi! From the Character Ask Game, I'd like to ask you Question 1 about Sally Donovan from BBC Sherlock (since the fandom is in your tags).
Because my blog is largely centred around Black Clover I don't really talk much about other shows on it (and probably won't, unless I'm talking about crossovers), but I'm curious to know whether or not you like Sgt. Donovan and why.
Oh, hi!
Yeah actually, I'm not sure how popular or unpopular this opinion is, but I like Sally Donovan a good bit — especially as an antagonistic force to Sherlock.
It would be so easy for everyone who is technically part of the "good guy team" (which is law enforcement, which in itself is something that can get a bit questionable, but that's not relevant here), to just like Sherlock from a distance or something, but the fact that he's got his haters adds a bit of realism I think and I mean... The guy does drugs and shoots at a walls. Even though to me he's more autistic-coded than someone somewhere on the antisocial personality disorder spectrum, it doesn't surprise me why someone might think so negatively of him. (Also, she's someone who's supposed to protect people, imagine being in that role and seeing someone who thinks of solving crimes as just a game and doesn't really seem to give much of a damn — at least not openly — about the victims themselves.)
Is she a bit too nasty about it? Maybe. But then, he's nasty right back.
And hey, I think her edges soften a little bit as the series goes on? It's been a while since I've last seen it all the way through, so don't quote me on that, though.
