Rick Celebrini appreciating Will is something so precious to me. This training intensive guy recognizing how important Will is in Mack’s life. Saying how good Will’s friendship is for Mack. Has anyone watched Rick's appearance on this one "sports parents" podcast? Because what struck me in that interview is how many times Rick emphasized the importance of your kids loving/enjoying the sport they're playing (and the training that comes with it) and how that's what parents should encourage/foster instead of forcing their kids to stay in a sport they no longer feel joy playing.

So knowing that Will probably helps with keeping the love and joy of playing hockey burning within Mack is just.... 😩 No wonder Rick likes him.

Honestly, seeing Misa and Sam and Will training with Mack has me so excited for next season. Not only because it’s great to see these guys hanging out together but also because we know (confirmed by Warso if it wasn’t already obvious) that Mack is always in the best form coming into the season and has insane stamina and as much as people like to joke about the lack of smiles in Van Camp, that kind of is exactly what we need if we’re serious about making the playoffs!

These guys (especially looking at Will tbh) will have to play far more minutes than they’re used to and as we saw during the last playoffs you can easily play another period, two periods, another whole game of overtime even. And while I have no doubts about Mack in that kind of situation (he played more minutes than any other Canadian during the Olympic semifinal with the best players in the world around him), I think the rest of our young guys could really use this training.

So gosh, I know it’s early but I am really looking forward to this upcoming season!

I totally agree. Mack's work ethic is insane. He never stops pushing himself, and every other player on that team sees how hard he works every day. I absolutely believe it spurs them on to try harder and do better.

Will is quieter about it, but there were a lot of stories about how Mack & Will would be the first ones at practice during their rookie season and the last ones to leave. (Warso even made a speech to the team about not staying so late because of them.) We've already seen his TOI go from just under 16 minutes last season to over 18 minutes this season. I expect that to jump up again to 19/20 minutes next season. And that takes a lot of conditioning.

I love to see guys like Luca Cagnoni out there training hard, trying to land that roster spot. Dickie & Misa on the ice with Mack every day & doing the Grouse Grind. Pushing themselves. They all seem to care a lot about getting better & aren't shying away from hard work. I love to see it.
