POV: this gentleman sits in front of you in a shady tavern and starts talking about the Inquisition. What do you do?
âomg why is no one talking aboutââ
"That pairing would never be canon" and what of it? I'm only supposed to ship what the church tells me to or something?
idk man sometimes i like it when video game writers are allowed to plan a series of events that happen in a specific order and affect each other in turn to become an overarching narrative, and i donât mind trusting those writers to take me through those events in the order that is emotionally effective. i donât really care if a game forces me to go through the forest area first before i can attempt the icy area because maybe thereâs things that happen in the forest area that inform later scenes in the icy area. maybe we don't need more superficial player choice open world concepts if it comes at the cost of the ability to write a story with actual significant plot events and character development in each section

i'm sorry but this dialogue so much reminds me of this meme
love how many veilguard characters flop completely at their own romances. neve screaming crying throwing up at the concept of an âi love youâ đ€ lucanis sexy wall lean that makes him bluescreen and flee the room đ€ emmrich self sabotaging his entire relationship out of insecurity. who is doing it like them
despite everything, itâs still you (derogatory)
wait hey man wait whoah hey
Thereâs less material to use as reference (eg, videos of dialogues, records of stuff you kinda have to play the game to see properly) for veilguard than there is of other games and I know partly thatâs because itâs been out for less time but I also feel like people just decided the lore in it was all wrong and therefore not worth thinking about and thatâs so annoying because not only is the lore in it extremely consistent with all the other established lore (more so than inquisition) itâs also a fucking treasure trove for it
This game was a fucking feast for lore nerds and people dismissed it because?? Graphics good? Pronouns? Solas was the guy heâd always been you just didnât like it?
I know that the 'Why couldn't we help Solas tear down the Veil?' arguments are funny in and of themselves but I especially love it when it's used as evidence of Bioware killing player choice. Yes, I too remember the times when you could help Loghain win the civil war and march the armies you've been collecting throughout the game on Orlais.
people will go onnn about how a manâs flaws makes him so nuanced and interesting and then act genuinely confused when u feel the same way about a womanâŠ
It really is so weird how none of the non-human companions in DAI let you bond with them about being non-human. The Iron Bull insults Adaar for thinking theyâre Qunari, and then when your character claims the Tal-Vasoth title, he belittles you for it.
Solas and Sera insult Lavellanâs culture and religious beliefs, and rejects the player for trying to talk to them about being elven.
And while Varric isnât as hostile to Cadash as the others are, it is very clear that he harbours his own insecurities and the game doesnât let you have any lines at all about it, save in the beginning when you are identified as Carta, and that is it. Save some lines about «real dwarves» in Hissing Wastes.
It is just. Such an odd choice. And makes me sad for the non-human pcâs.
