kris, wordlessly, crawls next to asriel in bed, wrapping frail arms around him. in the darkness it's hard to tell, but they seem scared... quiet hiccups fill the room. the hug tightens.

the  moonlight  does  not  pour  into  the  room   \   the  curtains  are  closed   &   it  only  makes  the  room  to  bask  in  darkness.   yet  only  for  one  half  of  the  room   \   for  the  stars  aligned   (   they  glow  in  the  dark   \   a  radiant  green   \   gentle  light   \   it’s  soft  on  your  face   ).   you’re  deep  asleep   \   slumbering   &   dreaming   (   of  what   ?   you  weren’t  too  sure   \   you  don’t  quite  remember   \   for  you  are  already  awake   ).   kris  shuffles   \   slowly  they  make  their  way  into  your  bed   (   the  hiccups  that  occupied  the  once  silent  room   \   their  hands  trembling  as  they  cling  to  you   \   another  nightmare  you  assumed   ).   it  was  an  instinctual  movement   \   you  sling  one  arm  over  the  other  for  comfort.   you  held  them  close  to  you   \   they  felt  cold.

you  stayed  silent   \   not  quite  sure  what  to  say   (   you  let  them  be  comforted  by  this  silence   \   it  wasn’t  a  suffocating  one   \   it  was  one  of  understanding   \   you  don’t  think  they  want  to  talk  about  it  anyways   ).   your  tired  eyes   \   blurry  vision   (   the  darkness  that  filled  the  room  didn’t  help   ).   your  voice   \   soft   ,   barely  even  a  whisper.   you  spoke  comforting  words   \   they’re  not  alone   (   not  anymore   \   you’re  home   ).   ❝    it’s  okay.   i’m  here.   you  aren’t  alone  anymore.    ❞

the  wind  in  your  fur   \   the  air  that  breathes  into  your  throat   (   the  light  that  reflects  from  your  eyes   \   the  heart  beating  in  your  chest   \   it  was  all  still  too  new  to  you   ).   you  knew  of  galaxies   \   of  their  stars   (   the  supernovas   \   the  stardust   \   you  knew  that  they  could  begin  again   \   bringing  a  new  star  to  be  birthed  into  the  universe   \   never  once  did  you  think   \   you  could  be  like  that   \   to  start  again   ).   you  were  alone   \   every  emotion  came  in  bursts.   then  it  all  becomes  but  a  fleeting  memory   \   they  rot  in  your  heart   (   it  was  still  cold   \   it  was  winter   \   killing  the  life  in  spring   ).   so  when  you  hear  the  footsteps  of  someone  approaching   \   instinctual   &   cold  remark  that  slips  past  a  tongue  too  numb  to  emit  emotions.   ❝    what  do  you  want.    ❞

yet  your  quick  to  cover  your  mouth   \   you  didn’t  mean  for  it  to  come  out  like  that   (   quickly  you  turn   \   to  face  the  one  that  dared  approach  the  god  of  hyperdeath   ).   you  lower  your  hands   \   apathy  gnaws  at  the  edges  of  your  mouth.   a  melancholy  look  in  your  eyes   \   you  were  alive   (   yet  the  stars  have  all  died  in  your  eyes   ).   your  voice  softer   \   yet  not  soft  enough.
