Lovely to see we have spaces where you can gain access to so much literature!
adrian doodles!
Some notes of details and things for fun!:
Based off the dimensions of the average Eridian we have from Andy Weir's info doc and the dimensions of Rocky specifically we get from Grace in the book, Rocky is on the smaller side for his species. Lord and Miller confirmed in the director's commentary that the two green overlapping circles on Rocky's arm are his wedding band, so I thought it would be fun if the size of those circles also reflected both his and Adrian's physicalities, hence the size difference.
I thought it would be fun to make Adrian's markings red since it's opposite from green on the colour wheel and Adrian is Rocky's other half. Grace realises this while trying to plan a lesson to teach his Eridian students about human sight and colours. He thinks it's very endearing and tells Rocky and Adrian even though they can't see the colours and don't entirely understand the meaning of colour pairings on Earth. Nonetheless, they're very happy about it.
Grace mentions in the book that Rocky has a craggly bit sticking out from one of his hands, which isn't part of Rocky's design in the movie, so I gave Adrian a craggly bit that sticks out on their arm instead. Sometimes Rocky interlocks the smaller piece of his split forearm with it. I like to think Grace eventually teaches Rocky about human jewelry and charm customs, and they work together to make a sort of mini charm bracelet with some very nice auditory qualities for Adrian to attach to it. They're rarely ever heard without it.
Growing up, my family declared that any time one of us found a rock with a white line circling the entire thing, it could be wished upon. I thought it would be sweet to give Adrian those wish rings so all the wishes Rocky made to return home to them while he was at Tau Ceti would come true, even if he didn't know it. The rings are textile and can be heard by other Eridians, some are indented and some protrude. They remind Grace of guitar and violin strings.

Prev this is the most beautiful way of experiencing life and art I've ever heard. Did you just think this was some kind of strange yellow emo philosopher waxing poetic at his bird son amalgam for no reason. I love you.
Let me be a petty PETTY girl for a second🫶 small rant/ soft artist callout below
also the two cursors in the same zipper in Bela's pants lol (also who the hell signs with the most generic windows font of your tumblr tag when they supposedly got talent to just have your unique handwritten or stylized signature)
i actually do think you should draw clocky trans people. no i don’t think they’re a stereotype or caricature. i think that’s a horrible thing to say about real people who exist. i think that’s a horrible thing to say about my friends and my family. i want to see your art of a trans boy with curves and long hair and baby face because that’s me. i want to see your art of a tall trans girl with broad shoulders and facial hair because that’s my friend. stop being scared to draw the people you know.
“I’m not going to draw a clocky trans woman because that’s how TERFs draw them” i don’t think my friends should be forced to only see themselves in artwork made my TERFs and transphobes. They should get to see themselves lovingly drawn by other trans people.
we got a little mention of alcina in requiem! a bottle of sanguis virginis :)

Have an art. This is D&D character. She is mine. And I like it.
Me when she🤭
not to be art snob guy but everyone knows that the Mona Lisa isn't the most valuable painting in the world cause he painted the woman so "beautiful" right. Like I just saw someone compare another painting (that was good!) but go this one should be celebrated as much as the Mona Lisa, look how beautiful it is- okay you know that's not why tho right.
Da Vinci stepped into a realm of anatomy and technique that no-one had ever done before. He Mastered light in a time where they were just painting the background and the subject the exact same focus.
What we understand about aperture, perspective, the human eye- Da Vinci was utilising before the scientific community even knew what a retina did. Do you understand how Crazy that is.
He invented a 3D stereoscopic picture in the 1500s. It would take two more centuries before physicists even arrived at the concept of stereography.
Do you understand how much math that is. A lot of fucking math man.
And I'm not even talking about colour or texture rn!!! He did it so we can't see the brushstrokes! It would require x-rays to view the work he did.
I just know sometimes people go oh why's this painting so special- it's very important to me that you know that the Mona Lisa was like an Atomic Bomb on the Renaissance art community. Almost EVERY piece of art you view today you could track it's influence back to what da Vinci did.
Like other art deserves its time in the spotlight, of course, but you know we didn't all gather around one day and go this lady is the prettiest this painting shall now be the Best. It's the most valuable painting in the world because..,. Well because it's the most valuable painting in the world.
Amen to that little dude
