.
i just inject hormones every two weeks and tell people im connected to the divine feminine or something but, reality is we've all got a mother, so am i wrong?
guys the kelela album dropped!!!!!!!
i have no personal issue with these women, so don't go looking for them. i am just noticing this argument against devoting energy to abolish x.y.z. hierarchy (here it's capitalism for the first and patriarchy for the second). I've heard it referenced secondhand that oppression is "just going to recreate itself" unless we tackle the "primary" issue. But what evil is the true cause the racist-capitalist-anti-environment-ableist-homophobic-xyz-patriarchy?
I genuinely am eager for data!!!! Please go study with an open heart and mind!!!!
My opinion: I don't think anyone should feel the need to rationalize or justify focusing our limited time on this planet to on a specific one of these struggles. I wonder if it comes from a need to prove some "ideological purity," because that's often a concern for women and other marginalized people who are often shut down at the first slipup. But, I think it's pretty bold to imply that you're never going to make a concession with some oppressor somewhere in the interwoven a network of exploitation of late-stage capitalism. I'm quite a sinner myself. I try not to make a habit of it at least... What I take issue with is the implication that people trying to liberate themselves from capitalism and patriarchy are just wasting their time. That's very offensive to me. None of these efforts is futile, especially if we take good record of what happens. If the hierarchy does, in fact recreate itself, that's data, girl. We can use that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im sorry to get overly political rn but when people say that men are uniquely restricted on the grounds of gender expression it wakes me up like a sleeper agent.
Yes, women can wear pants in western society and play lacrosse or do ballet. Men are often bullied and picked on for wanting that same flexibility. And it can be really rough, especially for more sensitive guys.
But i get rly upset when the story ends there bc I feel like it’s missing what’s at stake for the men when they step out of line, and why male behavior is enforced in such a rigid way. There’s a whole system for exploiting women’s domestic, emotional and reproductive labor going on (it’s called the patriarchy, look it up 💅) and it’s enforced basically through violence. The whole normalization of gender roles is meant to keep this system chugging along, and while women fought for the patriarchal concession of an expansion of their role as long as they continued raising children, feeding everybody cleaning, planning, soothing bad vibes, etc etc, men never had anything to gain at a class level from questioning gender expression in the same way. As human beings, of course we all benefit from being able to fully express all the beautiful colors of our spirit, but men being raised to be rough and cold an violent is by design. Soft and sensetive men pose a risk that the patriarchy might lose its entire axis of oppression. So we do what we do best and beat those men into shape to conform in a way that doesn’t threaten the existing structures of exploitation. And, of course, he is alienated inside from his truth. So what does he do? He tries to find meaning vicariously through his relationship with women which may be a healthy bond at the small scale (i love straight people hiiii straight ppl in my phone i see u and i care abt your truth) , but at a societal level you can see it still behaving more like an extractive system of ownership dating back to the days when women were exchanged from father to husband without any consideration of their personhood. The system has superficially changed many times, adapting to changes in the world like how we see women now being allowed to wear pants, but when it comes to labor, it has not really changed fully in my opinion. And for this reason i think the existence of that male alienation from his gender expression is actually evidence of this system of the patriarchy still being in place, and not instead a sign of some equal and opposite oppression.
I forget why but i remember there was more logic to this i know i am kind of still just assuming things and not making super coherent conclusions especially about the translation of gender roles to violence.
i just get mad when i hear “egalitarians” bring up male gender expression and feeling like there is no space in the conversation for a discussion about labor. We really do need to unpack the restrictions placed on male gender expression and men absolutely should learn to contour and wear absolutely whatever their heart desires, it honestly makes me so happy to see!!! I hope this doesnt come off as dismissive of anything i know its kind of a rough topic
A question for Ted Williams, who is currently frozen:
I used to feel morally superior to the billionaires that cling to some vague hope of being revived through cryogenics, and far more peaceful than the transhumanist technocrats dreaming of uploading their “souls” to the cloud while their data centers belch carbon into the atmosphere… I am different. I’m going to return my body to mother nature in gratitude for everything she’s given me, I tell myself. I’ll fertilize the plants, I’ll feed the worms that nourish the birds….
But as I get older, I am realizing that I am just as scared shitless of dying as any rich bastard is. Do you think my comforting dream of returning to the birds and flowers when I die is really any less selfish than a vicarious fantasy of my own immortality? At my hour of death, will I really feel like the bird, or will I instead feel like cold hands reaching out to grasp at its legs?
My burial doesn’t matter as much to me anymore. They can still have me, of course, but I really just hope I can fly away.
y'all i got my diploma now i just have to pass a standardized test, wish me luck
