I have worked in the pro boxing industry for the past six years and I love it. I sell sponsorships to national and local companies to help my brand grow. I also coordinate the event itself, ensuring the sponsors are taken care of, the ring girls are on point, that the DJ isnât playing the oldies to ramp up my crowd, and of course feeding the Emceeâs their lines.
I catch myself alone watching old HBO fights and I have to laugh a little. I had maybe watched one Oscar De La Hoya fight growing up. I wouldnât have called myself a fan at all. Now Iâm sitting here watching it alone and ever so often shouting out, âBody Shotâ.
One might ask, âHow did you get involved in boxing of all thingsâ?
Believe it or not I answered a Craiglist Ad that changed my path. The event coordinator had just up and quit on him. He let me attend his upcoming fight at the casino to see if I was interested. I went and I didnât know much about the sport but I love what I saw.
I have been on this journey every since. There has been a lot of highs and a few lows. People say thatâs a dying sport. Well then why is Floyd Mayweather ranked number sixteenth highest paid athlete in 2016? Boxing is a timeless sport that the older generation will always appreciate. MMA is new and exciting with quick results just like the millennials like.
My hustle this week is strong. Setting up sponsorship meetings right and left while we add new fights in new event centers. We have decided to expand to some of the smaller markets that arenât overly saturated with fights every weekend.
Huge meeting in the morning for expansion. Iâll update the results next week.
