A/n: Hey guys! I'm a big Lityerses Stan and I decided to write for him! This story doesn't only focus on the ship only. I would like to focus on each character and dig deeper into their stories. I hope you enjoy;)
Wake Up, Son Of Midas.
"You have a debt to pay son of Midas."
The raspy feminine voice sent shivers down his spine. He knew that voice. It used to scream in his ears from a far. He tried to look around, but there was nothing but absolute darkness. He was used to having flashback nightmares from his time in the underworld, but this felt different.
"Walking through the doors of death, expecting no curse or suffering? Tsk."
He was sure of her identity now. Megaera. The fury Megaera. She was never as violent or paranoid as her sisters, but her weapon was something else. Her words flew into his head every time, her whispers became eternal psychic torture. Why was she in his dreams now, he wouldn't know. He had been alive for quiet a while now. It had been 5 years since he had settled into waystation. Why seek vengeance now? A low chuckle found it's way to his ears. He hated how horribly beautiful her voice had always been. She was a beautiful creature in general, all three of them were. But not in the sensual sense.
"Everything comes along when its the right time, Lityerses. You never know when you have to pay the debt. And you can never find the debt you need to pay. The debt will find you."
He tried to move his head. But it felt as if he didn't have any. He just was. Existing in the endless darkness. He was never too afraid of the dark though. Ever since he started his stay at the waystation, he had heard from others that children or Demeter often struggled with the dark. He liked to think of it as a product of modernity. He had to stay awake many nights in the dark of the night for the harvest in his early years of life.
"I see you have forgotten the lesson I taught you. That's what life does to one. When you poor souls arrive, we are there to take you and reshape you. Shake off all your pains and strip you naked of your pride. But now that you're alive, you've mislead yourself once more."
He felt as if his throat was ran through with a dagger of some sort. He could not bring himself to speak. That terrible helpless feeling of being frozen in the asphodels struck him. He managed to calm himself down enough to speak a few words:
"What... Do you want?"
His voice was not his. It sounded distant and broken.
"Its not about what I want. Its what our Lord wants. Or more importantly, what you want."
"I want you to get the hell out of my head is what I want."
Her laughter shook his surroundings. If that was possible. He tried to move again, this time his existence shifted into what he used to be in the asphodels. His shade, but more ghostly. His legs were hovering above the solid black ground. He looked down at himself. He was bare of any clothes. Her voice echoed around his head once more.
"Rebels like you are different from others. You have a mark on you, child. You always had."
He felt a ghostly touch on his right shoulder. His head turned and he saw her bluish hand, tracing one of his many scars.
"When one has this many scars, there are only a few possibilities to consider."
He snapped his head back to face her, and there she was. First thing that came to mind were her fierce golden eyes. Melting into his skull. Then her long purple hair, all around her shoulders, at one glance it looked infinitely long, and the next moment, it was pulled back. His eyes could not decide.
"Why don't you go and torture another soul? I've sent quiet a few your way this past few years. They deserve it more than I."
Her arms crossed across her chest. He noticed the deep blue chiton hugging her body, golden strings hanging from the hem of her short skirts.
"You think of this as torture? I'm doing you a favor, boy. After all, you were one of my favorites. It's a shame i won't see you again."
He gasped. It could not be.
"Of course," she smirked. "If you do as planned."
He felt nauseous. If that was possible for a shade. Next thing he knew, his feet were touching cold sand. He looked down at himself again. His atire had changed. His body felt solid, and his skin was smooth and tanned. His normal royal chiton was covering him. He looked up at her again.
"This is a mere warning Son of Demeter. You'll right your wrongs, but only if you give in."
Suddenly she melted into liquid obsidian, her shrieking laughter filling the air. His ears popped and he crouched down to tolerate the pain.
"Awake son of Midas, for, you have much to learn."
AGHHHHHHHH!
"Lit? Lit? Wake up, you're scaring me."
His eyes snapped open and he sat up. Cold sweat was running down his chest and spine. His throat burnt and his head felt as if it was splitting into two.
"Lit?"
Georgina's face came into his sight. Her long brown hair was messy but her eyes looked in distress. She was holding one of his shitty shirts that he had tossed aside earlier, in her hands.
"Wear this. You're all gross and sweaty."
He breathed heavily and stared at her for a moment. Then he took the shirt and put it on rather harshly.
"What... What are you doing here?"
"Well at first I came here because I couldn't sleep. Then I saw you shaking and groaning. You looked horrible. I was so close to calling Emmie."
He dragged a hand across his damp face. His eyes were burning and suddenly every muscle in his body felt as if it was tearing apart from the inside.
"Water... Water Georgie."
She was quick to stand up.
"Right."
His eyes adjusted to the rooms darkness. His small quarters of the waystation. His bed was leaning against the wall on the left, and his wardrobes were facing him from the opposite side of the room. The most fancy part of the quarters was the big window that loomed over him from the wall behind him. Along side the window were his plants and flowers. Not that he could grow any, but he was good at taking care of them. His sharp blade winked at him under the moonlight from the corner. Suddenly the shirt hung too heavy on his body. He felt as if he couldn't breath. He hastily took off the clothing and tossed it aside with such force, that it knocked something on its way. He jumped at the sound. His sense were sharpened and seemed out of control.
His fingertips ran on the scars on his skin.
"When one has this many scars, there are only a few possibilities to consider."
What in Tartarus was that supposed to mean? He was a prince warrior in his early years, then he became a laborer for his father and Gaia, and then he became a killer for Commodus. There weren't any options that didn't involve scars and pain really. Besides, working with the griffins and scaring off the pimps that dared threaten the waystation was also a harsh job.
He heard Georgina's hurried footsteps reach his room. He did not raise his head.
"Here. Why did you take off the shirt? I can't sleep next to you if you're all sweaty."
He took the cold glass of water from her and chugged it down in one go. The droplets running down his neck and chest.
"Who said you can sleep here?"
He handed the water back to her. She huffed and crossed her arms.
"First off, you always allow me to stay here if I can't sleep. Second off, you don't seem like you were having beautiful dreams either. We help each other out."
He groaned and rubbed his eyes. The water had cooled him down but he still felt like he was getting torn apart from the inside.
"Okay but I'm not wearing a shirt. I can't breath properly now."
He moved to the side as much as he could and fixed up a clean pillow for her. She hesitated for a second but then slid on the solo bed beside him. They sat next to each other for a few moments before she spoke:
"What were you dreaming about?"
"Just... Underworld stuff."
She hummed in response and pressed her hand against his forehead.
"You don't have a fever either."
He shook his head and mumbled.
"I can't get sick, remember?"
"You can still catch a virus."
She offered. He shook his head and said hoarsely:
"You don't need to be ill to have nightmares when you're a demigod."
Georgina stayed quiet. Lityerses couldn't really blame her either. He sighed and mumbled.
"I'm sorry Georgie. I'm just a bit shaken. Are you alright? Did you also have a nightmare?"
He tried his best to make his eyes look as soft as possible. Georgina's face seemed a bit more pale than usual, or maybe it was just the light that made it seem so. Either way, he needed to stay put. She shook her head. Her very long brown hair covered her back and arms like a curtain as she hugged her knees.
"No, I just couldn't fall asleep. We have a school trip tomorrow, remember?"
His brain went blank for a moment, then he remembered her nonstop rants about what she wanted to do, or what she wanted to wear for the day long trip. Watching her grow felt weird and comforting all at once. He mostly felt a heavyweight in his chest sometimes, he remembered watching his younger sister grow up. Although they were separated in a sense, he never stopped being overprotective of her. Of course, he was absent on the day she was turned into gold, with his luck of course he would've been absent. He couldn't rest until she was turned back. And of course as his luck would have it, there was no way to bring her back to life a second time either. He never got a clear answer to why, he just had to accept it.
"Oh... Yeah yeah. I remember now."
He mumbled and tried to sound supportive.
"Well yeah, I don't really know who to sit with in the bus, everyone else already has a partner. And I don't. Besides, those idiots, Marcus and his group of friends will always find a way to annoy me on a normal day, what if they go out of their way now that we are out of school?"
He silenced her immediately:
"I thought the teachers had warned them and they had stopped? What happened to that agreement?"
She looked a bit nervous at first, then she shrugged and mumbled:
"They only stopped for a while. They started it again about two months ago..."
"And you didn't tell me???"
He basically barked and stared at her with that look that he knew she hated, but he had no other choice but to use the intimidation method.
"Hey! Maybe this is why I didn't tell you. I know you go crazy over these stuff, you're only going to embarrass me in front of everyone, and I'm already at the bottom of our schools social hierarchy."
"The hell is 'schools social hierarchy'? the only social hierarchy that exists, is between the poor and the rich?!"
She slapped her forehead with the palm of her hand and groaned:
"Ugh you're so old! Ive explained this to you a thousand times. Which part don't you understand? If you go full on killer mode in my school, everyone will be too scared to be my friend! And people already avoid me, so I don't need any more reasons for them to avoid me more than it is already."
"If a guy annoys you, he either loses a limb, or he dies. Depending on the level of annoyance he put you through. Ive explained this a thousand times as well."
He stated. Why were the women and young girls in this day and age were so against being protected? All he could remember from his past life, was how much a woman would have appreciated the protection a man could afford. Although, it made sense that there was less of this issue now, from what he had seen, there weren't as many... Territorial borders around women these days. But aside from all of that, why would anyone want to tolerate humiliation when they had the opportunity to put idiots in their place?
"Lit, just calm down. I'll handle it."
She breathed heavily and Lityerses could tell that she wasn't even convincing herself.
"Well whatever you say, I'll be taking you to School tomorrow. Besides, seems like diplomacy hasn't really been effective so I don't have to be respectful of your stupid rules anymore."
"What? No! Emmie was gonna take me! I know what you have in mind, I can't afford to look like a loser!"
"You already are one, so don't worry about that."
He groaned and lied back down and dropped an arm over his eyes. Not even a second had passed and he felt Georgina shaking his torso.
"No lit! You can't just decide for me! I've said this a thousand times as well!"
"Actually I can. And I will."
"You're not my parent!"
"I don't need to be your parent to do that."
She gave up shaking him and sat still. He could feel her pouting. She was good at doing that. He tried to focus on going back to sleep. Or at least pretending that he was asleep so that she would give up and shut her mouth already.
"You're not asleep lot. I can tell."
"Humph."
"Lit."
"Humph."
"Liiiiiit?! Come on, please don't make a scene!"
"Go to sleep."
He could feel her stare on him. But he paid no attention. He just needed sleep. And some peace of mind would've been nice. His nightmare from earlier pierced through his mind and his head was heavy with pain. He felt a bit bad for her distress, so he mumbled:
"I'll just make an appearance. Now you either go to your bed or sleep now."
He heard her hum and pout, and then he felt the mattress shift under him as she settled beside him. She dragged most of the blanket on herself and this time he couldn't really nag her about it, he couldn't even handle having a shirt on now. She pressed herself to his side and leaned her head on his shoulder.
"Goodnight Lit."
He shifted a bit so that she would feel more comfortable and he grunted:
"Night."
Sleep didn't come to him at all. He was awake, all stiff and tense, listening to Georgina's breathing and thinking about his nightmare. The more he thought about it, the more abstract it all became. The sun came up slowly. He checked the clock on his nightstand. It was 5:43 in the morning. He tried his best to sit up without waking Georgina, and he head towards the bathroom in the hallway. A quick cold shower would ease him.
A/n: I hope you enjoyed it! I usually update faster on ao3, you can check out the link down below >.< I know that the ship is extremely niche, it just somehow struck me and I decided to actually write it down. Let me know what you think:)
