“ God this can’t be. ” Maggie threw her head back, closing her eyes ( perhaps trying to wake from a dream gone wrong ? ) Completely oblivious to her cousin’s– or anybody’s for that matter, wellbeing she chewed on her lip, thinking of the practice she’d be missing trapped in the elevator. Her head snapped back, eyes wild with desperation “ Did you push the emergency button ? ”

Drew scoffed in agreement, taking deep breaths to try to calm himself. He gripped the pole attached to the wall of the elevator, as if that would somehow protect him from his fears. Of course, it didn’t, and he could slowly but surely feel his whole body tense as the scary realization of being locked in a tiny lift hit his conscious. He said nothing to Maggie’s question, though his eyes darted to the emergency button. He quickly stepped forward to press it - his motions hesitant and almost robotic - then stepped back to his corner to grip the pole handle once again.

Maggie gasped and did a little jump as her cousin landed, her eyes wide with glee and wonder. Now none of her siblings would be able to beat that. She could have her own book if things went well. She held up her hands as if spreading out the title of the book in the air. “ The ballerina and the explorer taking over the world ! ” A giggle escaped her as she returned a soft smile at Drew. “ It’s brilliant ! ”

Drew laughed from the ground where he landed, but once Maggie laid out her plan for the title of their story, he scrambled to stand up. “ I think you mean the EXPLORER and the ballerina taking over the world !! ” He spread out his hands like she had, and a cheeky smile formed on his lips.
