plant based? as far as I'm concerned, all plants are based
"This child cannot get this treatment because their parent said no" why is this normal to you!!! "This child, who is begging for treatment, cannot be given lifesaving medical care because their parent said no" is a wild statement!!!
Children should not need parental permission for medical care!! This doesn't just apply to life or death care*! A pregnant teen should be able to get an abortion without parental permission! Let teens go on birth control without parental permission! A kid should be able to see a doctor about a mental condition that is harming them and get it treated, even if their parent "doesn't believe it's real".
KIDS SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE MEDICAL AUTONOMY!!!!!
*it should be noted that the reasons I list after this can also be considered life or death, as a lack of access to them can be deadly.
you should care about kids because they’re people, btw. not because they’re “future adults” but because they are people right now and they deserve to be treated like people.
Shocking development: in a language and culture where most given names are considered masculine or feminine, some genderqueer and nonbinary people choose given names that seem unusual!
Even more shocking: a lot of them choose names from another language!
I hope everyone who said transmascs, transneutrals, and trans men are protected from direct legal attacks understand how the FDA warnings aren't surprising. Like at all.
(Here's two of them: TomboyX and Untag)
Binders have been under scrutiny forever. One day they cause breast cancer; the next they collapse both lungs if you wear it for more than three hours. They hide the body gave you even though at the same time, they *should* be hidden. Just not like a boy.
According to TERFSs, binders are part of the tranny agenda to indoctrinate young girls into mutilating themselves. Trying to cement binders as medical devices rather than gender-affirming apparal is literally nothing but ROGD rhetoric treating transmasculinity as a plague ruining future housewives.
By their logic, *all* shapewear, including those made for women, should need FDA approval. TomboyX doesn't even sell binders. They're sold as compression bras and the site mentions trans and gnc ppl. You don't see sports bras marketed towards cis people qualified as medical devices.
The obvious loop holes would be to either go the Underworks direction, which requires time and many FDA approvals, or to wipe any mention of trans ppl from the sites designed to help us. It's just another attempt to make the US forget transmascs exist.
And for anyone who needs a reason to care other than this, many tgirls I know have used high compressions bras, trans tape, and even binders to boymode for their safety. Treating them like medical treatments enforces that transness is a mental illness for the entire community.
Quick addition that I should have included: this also affects a lot of intersex ppl, which is equally important whether trans or cis. Would love people to RB with this!
imagine if instead of it being called a sip it was as called a suck. can I have a suck of water? 🤨
imagine an expanse of graves spanning miles and miles, too many miles for you to traverse
Went to a pet expo this past January and this was one of the memorable experiences
Happy Isopod Sunday.
Signs of a heart attack are different for each gender yet we only really teach the male warning signs. Make sure you’re aware of both and spread it to as many other women as possible!
EVERY SINGLE TIME I HAVE TAKEN A CPR CLASS I have had to be that person who points out that the training videos ALWAYS frame the “male” symptoms as the default universal heart attack experience, while the “female” symptoms are framed as though they’re a deviation from the norm, rather than the primary symptom set that cis women experience.
ALSO: I just showed this post to my roommate, who is an MD at a clinic that specializes in care for the LGBT community in the Baltimore area. I asked her whether hormones were responsible for the difference in the “male/female” symptom arrays. I asked how that would apply to her trans patients (which, she treats a LOT of trans patients). She said, basically, that the longer you’ve taken testosterone the more likely you are to get the intense chest pressure and the arm pain, versus the upper back pressure and shortness of breath.
Obviously I am not a doctor myself, consult your own health care provider, etc.
Reblogging this comment because this is the FIRST TIME I’ve ever seen someone address what XYZ medical condition would look like in trans patients. Also this is partly why my great-grandma died: the (male) doctor dismissed her heart attack as basically indigestion, because she didn’t have the typical male symptoms.
Oh my God someone was able to answer the trans patient question!
Anyone know how this works with intersex folk? A bunch of my family on my mum’s side have PCOS so would that make chest pain more likely or nah? What about for other variations?
my tentative answer is “it depends”- if you have higher levels of testosterone while still being estrogen dominant, you might have a combination of symptoms. if trans folks on hormones lean torwards the symptoms of rhe gender they share hormones with, it’s probably the same for intersex people
(talking to a lesbian couple) so which one is the cloth mother and which one is the wire mother
im crying…. my pornouns…..
THE UNYIELDING SILENCE???
Any idiot can like something thats good. It takes a real genius to like things that suck ass
dude its so fucking annoying how intersex men are almost NEVER involved in discussions about toxic masculinity and discourse against masc queers
please, please, listen to intersex guys. stop erasing them. there are intercis guys and intertrans guys, there are cistrans intersex guys and intersex guys with other complex identities. everytime you claim all cis men are bad while all trans men are good, you just hurt more intersex men. youre not an "ally" for this, youre straight up being a jerk. also fellow peritrans men, STOP acting like youre the only one whos oppressed. no, intersex men dont have it "better" than you. the patriarchy hates them just as much as it hates you. dont ignore them. instead hug them and show them how much you love them. spreading this shitty "x bad y good" belief will just cause more people to kill themselves
The problem: you are Michael Bublé, it is 2011 and you would like to make a Christmas album. Your producers want you to sing the classic Christmas song "Santa, Baby," but if you sing it as intended, it's gonna come off as, like, super gay
The proposed solution: you will rewrite the lyrics to the song to imply a platonic friendship between yourself and the man in red, making Santa a real bro who's gonna help you get laid by some hunnies, with cool, masculine gifts like a steel blue convertible, a yacht and tickets to a Canadian hockey game
The reality: the combination of the eroticism of your voice and the inherently sexual vibes of the song means you create a story about a closeted gay guy desperately repressing his desire to - as the kids say - fuck that old man, no homo'ing your way through asking him to trim your tree, promising you'll be such a good boy if he treats you well, and begging him to slide down your chimney
arguably the funniest genius annotation ever
when countless black men say they have experienced something, when countless have been harmed or killed by the same rhetoric, across cities and states and communities and decades, I BELIEVE THEM
when their stories repeat the same themes and horrors and cruelty, I BELIEVE THEM. When they have the same perpetrators, and the same institutions, and the same negligence, I BELIEVE THEM. I TELL THEM I believe them and that I am outraged for them.
I don’t sit there going “but you’re a man.” Or “but you’re cis.” Or “but you’re abled”. I don’t “explain” how “you’re ACTUALLY oppressed for your race, and not your gender!” because that’s FUCKING ABSURD. How DARE some of you.
It’s all “believe survivors” until they are black men
So many people have gotten so focused on gendered oppression from a white lens that they gender essentialism themselves into furthering racism (that they so often try to claim they hate) and it's kind of fucking crazy to witness.
And it kills people. No ifs ands or buts, it kills people.
Don't you like it when-
Holy shit.
You're... You're seeing this.. right??
