hey guys i work in the medical field. i have had an influx of patients in the past year that are intubated and on the ventilator (on life support) because of their alcohol consumption.

let me tell you about alcohol. alcohol is just poison you’re putting into your body but your body is so good at getting rid of it because of the liver until it can’t. and that’s where you now have liver cirrhosis. because your liver has been compensating for a very long time it can only fail if it keeps getting poisoned. liver cirrhosis is irreversible damage to the liver which causes it to be enlarged, and now you have abdominal pain, fluid retention because of derangement in the extracellular fluid volume regulatory mechanisms. and now you can’t breathe because the fluid is now in the lungs. if you can’t breathe you need to be sedated intubated and ventilated. liver damage is a terminal disease.
