childhood➵ he was born in a family that did not have much to their name, even less of a name to society, and he was the middle child of his siblings. before his dad passed, when vincent was ten years old, he shared his passion for music with his children as much as he could. vincent was the one who picked it up most and almost instantly fell in love with playing the guitar, and the idea of being in a band one day. he grew up listening to a lot of 80s heavy metal/music and watching a lot of older movies. when his dad passed due to a terrible car accident, vincent ended up turning a bit more rebellious than anyone could have expected. 

home life/school life ➵ the older vincent got the less he liked being called vincent and preferred “vince” instead. things at home became harder as he became more of a rebel, much to his mothers dismay, he had a run in with the law once or twice. things in school were surprisingly good, vince was actually very smart and often came out top of his class. he was easy to get along with and made friends with almost anyone. there were times he got into fights, suspended too, but ultimately he did end up passing in the top of his class. 

dreams ➵ vince has always dreamed of two things; becoming a rockstar in a rockin’ band & becoming a forensic scientist and help solve crime cases. because of life neither one of those has been achieved just yet, but he continues to work on it! he now lives in the the hamptons with his husky named arctic, or arc, and works as a bartender at one of the bars by the beach. he’s happy though or so he says!

being a first grade teacher, any major holiday was one to celebrate in the classroom, she always had a special day whenever valentine’s day was upon. not only was it the day to spread love, but it was also her birthday. entering the bar, she decided she needed a break from grading spelling tests and had a night out for a change. sitting on the stool, she rises a brow at the bartender’s suggestion. “sounds like a perfect deal to me.” she answers as her eyes glances around. she had a special eye for decoration, standing up from the stool, she walks backwards as she takes everything in. “well, i think you can hang something along the wall right there.” she states, pointing to the wall behind him. “maybe redo the speciality drinks to something valentine’s day theme. and you can also hang up stuff along the walls to make them more festive.” 

vincent had met plenty of people that came in and out of the bar but he can’t say he’s ever seen the woman who stood in front of him before and he a bit disappointed that he hadn’t, for some reason. he turns around to face the wall she pointed at, trying to envision her vision, “mmm. okay, okay. i can see it. i think i saw something in this box that could work,” he says, turning to look into the box, “it’s one of those string of heart banners.” he pulls out the string that contained medium sized red hearts with smaller pink ones in between them and gave them a small nod of approval. “oh! you know what? we could hang up like envelopes as like ‘love letters’ as well. what do you think? also, i do have one drink in mind right now for a specialty v-day drink. i’ll make you it on the house, i just ask that you give me your honest feedback.” vince began to prepare the valentine’s day drink; it was a strawberry lemonade mixed with a double shot of vodka and silver edible glitter swirled in for a dazzle effect. “let me know what you think. i haven’t thought of a name for it yet,” he admits, giving a little chuckle.

valentine’s day was a day made up for hallmark cards, he definitely did not see the big deal of it. he never was a fan of it, he was sure that he wasn’t the only person who had that thought. entering the bar, he rises a brow seeing the bartender on the other side hanging up hearts for the upcoming holiday. “excuse me? i thought that i always get free drinks because you’re secretly in love with me.” chad teases the other with a smirk growing across his lips. his brows knot together in confusion as he glances around before he glances at himself, “you really think that i’m the best person to ask for decoration advice? why can’t you ask one of your coworkers, i’m here to get fucked up.” 

“you get free drinks because i not so secretly think you’re attractive as fuck.  but no matter how pretty that face of yours is, i still need to please the person who signs my checks at the end of the day.” vincent had no problem teasing chad in return, he enjoyed their light banter. when the other male began to look around, as if there was anyone else really in the place currently, vincent found it to be amusing and he couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped. “i never said i thought you were the best person,” he replies,” you were just the closest one in range. plus my friend, bill,” he nods towards the elderly man who had fallen asleep at the end of the bar, “has decided to take a nap. it would be rude to wake him up, don’t you think?” almost like if they were on cue a coworker passed by them, glanced at the decoration, mentioned something about burning them and walked away. vince looks over at chad, still amused, still grinning, “you’re clearly my best option here, man. here’s the deal, i’ll get you fucked up, you start racking your brain for ideas. we want to go big, but not too big. i also don’t want to work and bump into paper hearts every two seconds.” he walked back behind the bar counter, “what do i start you off with in the mean time, pretty boy?”

he perks his brow as his friend continues asking for his input before cieran can say a word. vince must be desperate if he’s asking him for help with this. if it were a year ago, his face might’ve crumpled up like someone was asking him to assess three-month-old milk. but while his thoughts on the consumerist-driven holiday hadn’t changed that much, he knew that with lani this year, he’d actually be making a true effort. he’d even made a reservation weeks ago. “and here i thought you might’ve offered me a drink on the house out of the pure place of friendship,” he jokes, grinning. he eyes things so far, small amused smile playing on his lips. “it’s… a decent attempt,” he says, maybe a little unconvincingly. “less could be more? maybe your boss was looking for something more subtle by asking you. think i’m better for moral support, but you could always put up some of these ‘bite me’ hearts and go for an anti-v-day theme.”

“did you just come in here to bust my balls?” vince jokingly questioned, looking over to his good friend with a playful grin. had he been paying attention to whom he was speaking with then vincent would’ve realized the other was in the same hopeless boat he was. sort of. they both certainly sucked at decorating for valentin’s day, but at least the other had someone to share the day with this year. “you’re getting a drink regardless of your help, my man, you should know that  immediately if i’m on shift. i do think you’re right, i think the big boss wasn’t looking for a pink valentin’s banner across the bar.” in his defense he warned them that if they gave him the box without direction it was going to look some someone threw up valentin’s day all over the bar because he truly did SUCK at this. if ever he got married he had already decided his spouse was going to have to do all decorating for holidays or they would just live in a decoration-less household. “the ‘bite me’ hearts is a good touch. i’ll go with that.” he grabbed a couple of ‘bite me’ hearts to stick up just before lazily taking down the banner he had hung up and tossing it back in the box. “here. help me stick these stupid things up.” he hands the hearts to his friend before moving back behind the counter, “meanwhile, what can i get you to drink?”

isabella really thought the one place she’d escape the whole lovey dovey kind of vibe was the bar but when she stepped in her frown easily took over her face and for a second as she leaned against the bar she thought about leaving but when the male spoke her eyes traveled from the counter top to the male brow raised listening to him a moment. she went to open her mouth to respond but when he continued she pursed her lips and let her eyes travel to the basket of decorations, and when she knew he was done talking she spoke, “well you see i’m the last person to ask because its a day i truly hate and think shouldn’t be celebrated so if you ask me i say burn it all.” she lifted her shoulder in a shrug before letting her eyes travel back to the male behind the counter letting out a sigh stepping, “plus isn’t the bar a place single people go to avoid the whole valentines thing? like why dont be all anti valentines? but if you have to string up some hearts behind you, add heart shaped coaster or something.” she shook her head letting out a breath.

“burning it all seems like a good idea to me,” he admits, playfully side smirking. if he hadn’t liked his boss as much as he did then vincent would have left the basket right where it was with the decorations untouched. “you’d be surprised how many people come in here to celebrate the damn holiday, even with a loved one. you’re not wrong, however, most people do try to forget it exists or drink more on that holiday when they visit.” he wasn’t going to bore her with his views on it but they weren’t too far from what he assumed her views were, especially after the comment she had just made. “heart shaped coasters is pretty brilliant. it’s bar after all, right? bars need coasters.” he reached in to pull out a couple of heart shaped coasters to set them aside for a little later, maybe before he clocked off for the evening, but he was currently v-day decoration’d out. “before doing all that, more importantly,” vince moves behind the bar counter again, gaze settling on her, “what can i get for you this evening? promise i won’t bore you with more v-day talk.”

valentine’s day was never a holiday that vince cared much about. most valentine’s day he would forget were coming up until the day of, but this year he was being forced to decorate during any down time for the big event. he had hung up some hearts by a bit of fishing line, a couple of hearts here and there on the walls, but he was running out of ideas. on top of that, he also had to think up of a drink for the special night. “so,” he says to the person who came up to the bar, stepping back to look at it for a second, “i’ll give you a drink on the house if you can help me out, sound good? good.” vince didn’t wait until the other responded before asking for their input, “what do you think this is missing? there’s a basket of valentine’s day decorations right there,” he points to the basket on one of the stools, “my boss left me in charge of decorating this joint for v-day and i don’t know why because out of the two years i’ve been here you would think they would know i am not the decorating type. i also don’t want it to look too shitty.”
