i need you guys to understand that the masters as they are currently recorded is ALL scooter owns. he cannot remake a new master without permission from the publisher (taylor and bmi) and he cannot just remix the master either. remixing a master creates a new master recording, and the lyrics are owned and copyrighted by taylor swift. remember how angry everyone was that taylor swift copyrighted “this sick beat”? well, it’s a good thing she did. because she owns the copyrights and publishing. but without the masters, she cannot republish her own work nor does she have sole creative control over who can license her songs.

She can’t republish the exact versions of her debut to rep music BUT she could re-record and rerelease them. This would create new masters that she would then own.

that is true! i apologize if that caused any confusion. what she would be republishing is what’s called a “remastered” version, which creates a new master. you can read about remastering here

nope! the only thing this changes is that scooter now makes money off the currently published and existing tracks as well as him having a say in the licensing rights. i’d imagine this is pretty horrific to taylor, since, like she said, he is a man who made her feel uncomfortable at every turn. it forces her more into working with him and her work being used to line his pockets.

labels pay radios to play music. it is unlikely scooter will make any money off of future radio plays. the rep tour movie, i can’t say for sure. it’s entirely possible the answer is yes since i believe there is a big machine logo at the beginning of the rep tour movie. her merchandise was owned and copyright by her and was not produced by the label, but rather taylor nation. she will continue to profit off her own merchandise, it will just be her albums/EPs affected.

Hey there Tumblr!

It’s been a while huh? My notifications have been filled with all of your cool tumblr posts as well as tumblr themselves trying to lure me in with notifs like “hey drivingwithagetawaycar7 your favourite @taylorswift just posted! Come check it out!” But as tempting as that has been I needed to take out about a month for my GCSE exams, but I just finished yesterday and now I’m all yours tumblr whoop whoop! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 It was a hard 5 weeks, especially with very few @taylorswift distractions around because of her silence and the fact I wasn’t on tumblr to browse everyone’s theories! But I think the extra revision time was worth it; we’ll have to see on results day in August ahhhhh! The night before my final exam, Physics, was so stressful and difficult (I’m sure any Physics students out there will relate) but it was also the night of Taylor’s live stream and honestly seeing her excitement about the new album (Lover on August 23rd OMG we can actually start the countdown 😆🥳) and remembering that insane feeling of the impact of her music, I was able to push on and the next morning before the exam I heard “you need to calm down” and the powerful , almost sassy, lyrics struck a chord in me and i think that was one of the reasons I didn’t panic in that the exam and it went so well. Omg isn’t it AMAZING?! I have it playing as I write this and I am OBSESSED, especially with the message it’s trying to put out there. My favourite lyric is “and shade never made anybody less gay” - I love Taylor’s stance of being an ally to the LGBT community and honestly it gives me the confidence to to the same and be there for my peers who are part of it. BTW I am so happy we FINALLY got to find out the meaning of “JE SUIS CALME!” - it all makes sense now omg! Anyway, I’m off school for 10 weeks now so you better believe my tumblr game is about to be strong 💪! Love ya swifites!
